  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a '10 4.6 Genesis and it's time for new tires. I would like anyones thoughts on more quiet tire sets than the stock, and I am willing to give up some mileage in return. Quiet is the thing.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Check tirerack.com . Also many treads here on the forum. Most recommend the Continental DWS tire and the Bridgestone Serenity.

If you value comfort over performance, consider the Michelin Primacy MXV4. I put these on my '02 Acura TL-S and they were super quiet and had reasonable handling for a grand touring tire. I would consider these to be a great match for the Genesis.

The Michelin MX4 is now standard on a loaded 3.8. I have been driving a 3.8 loaner with these tires, and they are very quiet. In addition they are low rolling resistant tires.

Back in Oct. of last year I replaced the stock tires with Cooper Zeon RS3-A.
Tires were rated above Conti DWS, in Consumers Report back in Sept./Oct. 2011. Tires are great, QUIET, good handling in rain/snow/ dry. Lower price than conti DWS. I would buy again.

Cooper is a great tire, my friend just got the same pair as ^ and he is very pleased. Bonus - the only American made tire is Cooper.

Cooper may be one of the few American owned tires companies (along with Goodyear), but most tires sold in the US are manufactured in the US, even those made by Michelin.

According to their website, Cooper manufactures tires in the US, Mexico, England, and China.

There are no miracles.

Cooper tires are inexpensive, and they have an appeal for those who favor price vs long-term performance vs cost.

I've had 'em, and they met my expecations for an inexpensive tire.

Buy what you can afford based on how long you expect to keep the car.

DISCLAIMER: My opinion. This is not fact. I'm just tired of risking my well-earned bucks on "value" brands only to find they don't live up to their advertisements.

TireRack.com is an awesome resource.

Which Cooper Tires did you put on your car?

I have an 09' 4.6 and installed Michelin MXM4's. Have used them on on other autos. Great tire! Quiet and smooth.

I don't recall. It was years ago on an older passenger car. Bought 'em to keep the cost of owning the car down. Really can't help you with today's tires. I'm sure they improved some since I owned them.

I live near a Cooper Tire plant and I wanted to buy American but in this case I could also hopefully buy a Mississippi tire and help keep an American job operating. Thanks for the reply.

Just got the Michellin MXM's installed yesterday. I believe they are more quiet than the OEM's!

They are. I'm buying another set since the factory tires wore out after 51,000. They are super quiet, it's like riding on a marshmallow
