  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I finally traded in my 2015 Genesis at 57,000 miles and wanted to thank everyone for all of the useful information on this forum. My car has never had any problems but it needed new tires and I was getting nervous about all the expensive systems that were no longer under warranty. I was planning to downsize to a G70, but wound up with a 2021 Sonata Limited that had more up-to-date technology. I'll probably trade it in on a new Genesis in a couple of years when the G70 is updated and inventories loosen up (I like bargains). I traded on Jan 4 to get maximum leverage at the dealership to boost their year-end numbers.

The Sonata is about the same external size as the G70 but has more rear passenger room and trunk space because it is FWD. I'm surprised that Hyundai put more advanced tech on a Hyundai before all the Genesis models received it. It handles quite well for a FWD car because the tiny 1.6L engine takes weight off the front end. But when the time comes, I'll gladly trade it in on something with more power, RWD, and Nappa leather.

Sounds sensible. Life changes and our needs change and as much as I like my G80 I may do the same when the warranty is done in 2 years.

One reason I bought a 2015 Genesis was the goodies, and the 2018 even better but now Sonata has a lot of goodies too. And I drive 20,000 miles a year less now.

Nice ride. I also like the newer KIA and Hyundai models. I am more partial to the KIA K5 styling, but it cousin the Sonata also look nice.

Take care.

Happens. Hope you enjoy your new ride...!

Not surprising that the Sonata got newer technology, its refresh was 2020, the G70 isn’t due for another year or 2.

Car manufacturers don’t make dramatic updates to the technology of existing models, aside from the massive expense, it makes no sense to do so from a marketing perspective, the point is to get you to trade for the newer tech at the end of a 5 year loan.

My lease on my G80 is up on March 12, I’m trading it in for a Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy myself, the one I have a deposit on arrived in port yesterday according to the dealership, and will be on their lot Friday, so next Saturday it will be in my hands.

Congrats on the Palisade...was going to look at that or the Kia Telluride for my wife to replace her ford edge in the near future. Will have to lurk around those forums to see how owners of those vehicles feel about them...good luck with yours (y)

Good choice.

Both athe KIA Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade are nice rides overall, but the Hyundai model actually look better to me. I am not feeling the KIA version's styling or name. Hyundai has the nicer looking SUV while KIA makes the nicer looking cars on their shared platforms in my opinion.

100% agreed, I think the Palisade Is a far better looking model. The front grille and headlights on the Telluride turned me off, as did the cheap looking interior.

My G80 lease was over in January and I purchased the 2021 Sonata Limited! White with black interior.
I think a lot of people are going this route, they just don’t want to deal with the Genesis Drama. For half the cost of the G80 you get essentially the same size vehicle, the compromise is FWD over RWD and 100 less HP. But for many people that doesn’t matter.

I’ve had the new Sonata Limited 3 times as a loaner when my G80 was in for service, the fully loaded one with Smart Park and all the toys, my wife and I loved it, thought it was a great vehicle.

The Sonata Limited was my choice, until it became apparent I needed a truck/suv of some kind. I had a 1995 4Runner I used for all my towing needs and I loaned it to my brother after his car was taken out by DUI when it was parked. He managed to blow up the motor and transmission in 2 years. So I was left with no beater for towing and hauling.

The Palisade became the replacement, same tech as the Sonata but has the tow capacity I need.

Agree!! One day I like the hyundai...next day the Kia...but I do lean slightly more to your opinion. Will probably come down to test driving each and see what "feels" the best to me and my wife. Have grandkids to haul around from time to time so the 3rd row seating is attractive. Comfort back there for adults is not critical...just need enough room to pack younger ones back there in lieu of taking 2 cars for some family outings. My wife and I do enjoy our Genesis sedan for adult excursions where added space for the kids/stuff are not needed. Appreciate the input

Quite surprise that I wasn't the only one that was thinking of getting myself into 2021 Sonata Limited after owning 2015 Genesis Ultimate. Then, I changed my mind to Palisade Caligraphy and then I ended up in Audi Q5 Prestige.

nice choice. the Audi was $7,000 over my budget and I wasn't a fan of the interior and no auto drive features that was a deal breaker for me.

I understand. Mine was fully loaded with warm and cold weather package, ambient lights and adaptive cruise with lane keep assist that works amazingly and some other goodies that I was missing in my Genny.

Gotta tell you, I have no regrets buying the Sonata! A little smaller and a not as wide as the G80. As old age creeps up on me, I am glad it is smaller.

I was rather surprised how comfortable it was when I had the first one as a loaner. up until my 4runner tanked it was my replacement for the G80.

LOL. I thought older people like to buy larger cars. That is the trend in my area.:)
