  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Music For The Lexicon!

Elshagon is the guy you wanna talk to.

If there's a thing that's been done with a sound file in a system... he's done THAT and seven variations of it.

What a nice surprise !!!

My Genny lease is up and after much thought I have decided to move on and I have leased an Audi A6..I needed a car with AWD and the Genny and the Equus do not offer that, as you know....

Now the good news...I absolutely thought my bazillion DVD A's would begin collecting dust...But No !!!!! THEY WORK IN THE AUDI !!!! Really a big plus, as all the great advice I have received on this thread has brought me many hours of audio enjoyment behind the wheel..for that I thank you all..Driving 100 miles round trip every day calls for good audio.

Thanks again and happy listening.

Steve

Do any of you all know if it's possible to access the DVD-Audio menu on the screen? The other day, I played that Acura DVD-Audio demonstration disc in a Taurus SHO and a menu popped up on the SHO's screen and I was wondering if it's possible on the Gennie. The reason I want to do this is because as we all know, some DVD-Audio discs have different sound formats on the disc and I want to make sure the disc is outputting in a surround format and not the stereo format that a lot of discs also have.

Do you mean while it's not in Park? I have a Genesis (the band) DVD-A and the menus work just fine while in Park, using the DIS... Maybe you're talking about a different kind of menu?

I'm talking about the actual menu for the DVD-Audio.

You know how DVD-Audios have menus like regular DVDs? Well this isn't coming up on mine. And I know it is there because that SHO I test drove displayed it.

I just wanted to let you all know that awhile back, I purchased an Acura DVD-Audio demonstration disc that they give with their vehicles; the disc is great and has an awesome demonstration at the end of how they mix a surround sound track. The Lexicon sound system really shines and I recommend this disc to all of you.

Thanks RSPEC429 for the info on the Acura DVD demo disc, i also found the guy on ebay sold out, but as you pointed out to Kev4 the guy has others, and i just won the bib, so i will be looking foward to hearing it, thanks again...Tom

I almost bid against you! Then I realized the bidders there would've come from HERE, as I did.

;)

Congrats... let us know how it is!

Will do...I thought the same thing the other day, i was the only one bidding and on the last day someone was bidding against me that i thought maybe was from here, and when it got $31 and change i stopped, but the next day the seller emails me and said i can have it for the final bid i had...I went and looked at his sales and it went from 19.95 to the buy now price of 35 or 39 (i forget) so i waited and got it for $22.10...

When I put that demo disc in the SHO, it had a nice video portion to it. Track 22, if I remember correctly, has a demonstration of surround sound and a corresponding video portion to go along with the audio portion. Ruissimo, this is what I am talking about the Genesis not playing...there's no video.

Yeah, that's weird. Like I said, the only DVD-A that I have that has a video component is the Genesis Invisible Touch album. And that one plays when I'm in Park - I can see the videos no problem. I can also navigate the menus no problem.

I can't really listen to that DVD-A when driving though because there's no way to navigate the content without the screen.

I suppose, like all things, not all DVD-A's are made equally.

That's very interesting; like you said, it must simply be differences not only with the discs but also the audio systems from vehicle to vehicle.

Well, you can actually listen to it if you start it while in Park. It'll play just fine while driving and start where you left off if you've parked.
As for menus in general on a DVD-A, pushing the knob to the right will show Groups at the bottom. Usually stereo, mono, acoustic options there but you have to try them to see since they aren't labeled. For example, that's where to find the bonus material on a Porcupine Tree disc or Elton John's GYBR..

While the DVD- is playing (and the screen is blanked out with the no video while driving warning) press the DIS knob down and also try pressing the BACK button down. One of those brings up DVD playback controls and DVD menus. At least for regular DVDs even while the transmission is not in Park. I expect they'd work for DVD-A disks too. Pressing "Back" is very non-intuitive!

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000051S65/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00"]Amazon.com: Blue Man Group - Audio: Blue Man Group: Music[/ame]

Just ordered the blue man group DVD-A. Looking forward to the one as I am a drummer of 18 years, and this should sounds pretty bad ass on the Lexicon:cool:

Has anyone used DualDisc DVD,s in your Lexicon? There is a used CD store in my area that has a number of these for $5.00 to $10.00 used. most seem to say there is CD on one side and DVD-A on the other. I read some old Internet reviews that many manufactures did not recommend Dualdisc's in slot loading equipment. I was hoping some of you had good luck with this type of disc and I was going to pick up a couple & try them.
