  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anybody experienced their Genesis hesitating when you push the throttle down slowly rather than quickly accelerating. It acts like if you had a carbureted engine and a bad accelerator pump on the carb, it hesitates for a moment, (to say, it needs to catch its breath), then takes off? My dealership says that's normal and I'm nuts! The car has less than 10,000 miles on a new factory fresh 3.8 Liter engine due to a defect in the original engine! Bought the car, 81 miles later, (next morning) started engin up in my garage and the top end shit the bed. Dealership had car for 4 weeks. Got to say Hyundai stood by the CPO warranty! Anyway talked to Hyundai customer service gave me a case number. I then went to dealership, their mechanic drove car with me and he said i'm being too picky, the computer has to think what it needs to do? I told both the mechanic and the service manager it never did this before or after the new engine was installed. I have driven other Genesises same as mine and those did not drive that way. Can I get some advice from you folks out there? Anybody might have experienced this or know what to do to correct it. It's driving me crazy!

This is probably a dumb question, but what drive mode do you use? I was driving around in my 2015 Ultimate AWD, and I noticed a certain lack of engine to pavement response. Felt like the tranny was slipping on acceleration. The recommended I try the Sport mode. That seemed to help with that feeling and also tightened the steering.

I usually have the car in normal mode. This feeling does not feel like the tranny is slipping. Just a moment of hesitation, (greater than 2-3 seconds) when pedal is pushed down. In sports mode it's a little less noticeable.
I know this engine is by fly by wire so I am assuming it's something with the pedal end or the throttle end that needs to be replaced or adjusted! It's driving me crazy. The service manager says i'm crazy!

Yes it's indeed a thing. My AWD does it and it can be annoying, but recently it almost caused me to have a wreck. I was exiting a highway and at bottom off off-ramp I stopped to make a right merge turn (with several cars waiting behind me). I came to a stop to wait on oncoming traffic. I saw what I thought was an opening and started to hit the gas and had the dreaded pause. By the time I realized what was going on, I had to stop since I missed my opening, another opening came and I hit gas fairly hard and car didn't go anywhere for like 2 seconds but I was committed to the merge so as my heart sank thinking I'd get rear ended if I stopped or hit from side, I just hit the gas again and car took off.

It was really scary hitting the gas pedal and have nothing happen for count of 2 or 3.

I now plan ahead knowing the pause exists in Normal mode and adjust driving habits accordingly.

Sport mode never has that issue. Just the Normal one.

Might consider a sprint booster to decrease the throttle response threshold. It sounds as though the threshold is set too high from the factory, resulting in low throttle opening even with a fair degree of pedal depression. Just my thoughts.

Would a sprint booster effect the warranty in any way? Ive been looking into something like this but was warned by a friend that it might void the warranty.

I felt it a few times, but its def not as bad on the gen 2, the Gen 1 had a serious pause that like some said have almost caused an accident. In normal I give it a bit more throttle to alleviate this.

I have seen it also in normal mode. Even worse is if accelerating out of a stop and turning, and going over a roadway depression the traction control kicks in and really stalls the car from going.

Both need to be fixed, the second one with traction control is really bad. I have it every day pulling out of a street near my home to get on a main road...
