  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've done some pretty stupid shit when I was younger driving like an ******* on the streets.

I can't resist pointing out the incongruity of your writing stupid "sh_t" but not spelling out "*******," unless you just didn't have any particular term in mind and wanted us to use our imagination. :)

But seriously, every car forum (including this one) has threads like this periodically. You're right - they don't change anybody's mind. I agree with you that street racing is bad when it puts other people's lives at risk, but it's a matter of degree. I'll admit that I occasionally do stupid things during my "normal" driving, like passing unsafely. But every time I get away with something, I hope I become a little bit wiser.

Apparently this forum has a filter that blocks out the word A hole. I didnt put too much stock into that detail.

I guess we should have all bought Priuses! (or is it prii?) When we pay Bigg Tugg's car payment, we can tell him how to drive it.
Hopefully we all have enough common sense here to realize what we are risking by driving above the speed limit, and make our own decisions accordingly.

lol Funny you say that about the prius comment. Shockingly enough, there are knuckleheads here in Naples/Ft. Myers with hybrid cars, namely the prius, and they drive them like they stole it.

And I agree with your thread.

Sorry no videos...was pretty busy shifting!

On the way to work today, I "accidentally" push the gas kinda hard from a stop...just so happens a M3 was beside me. We race/toyed around about 5 times from a dead stop to about 100. When Gen was in "D" the M3 walked me like a dog 2 times. When I shifted myself it was close enough for me to see the reaction of the driver "shock", even though he still had me by a half of car!

I believe with these cars tuned, headers, tru exhaust, CAI. They will easily see low 12's, maybe high 11's!

The bad thing is nobody will touch em!

When you shifted her yourself will the Trans up-shift for you if you let the R's get too high or does it simply keep winding up or like some BMW does a Rev limiter kick in?

When facing vehicular manslaughter charges, I fail to see where a judge and jury would agree with that defense.

agree to disagree and move on ?

They probably wouldn't. That's one of the risks he would have contemplated before racing.

I'm in the situation all the time... Four tours to Iraq, 2 to Afghanistan with a third one coming up.

What have u done lately for ur country? Cuz Internet bashing doesn't count ;-)
Nothing, absolutely nothing gives you the right to street race..

Also, being so utterly full of yourself - having "served your country" and shit - is pathetic. A lot of us are vets, but you don't go bragging about it and bashing others with it, on the contrary, it should've build some modesty and pride in you. Apparently you still have some growing up to do.

If the Gen's manual mode is anything like that of my Sonata's, manual is manual; it'll run right up to the electronic limit in any given gear.

F it... i tried... i truely tried....

ACTUALLY... being an American citizen gives us the freedom to street race... it also gives us the freedom to be ticketed and have the license revoked. This argument has gone round and round on other forums. I respect you guys (on both sides of the fence).

Dont preach to me you guys are any better then the OP. Im sure you've all exceeded the speed limit in your life and gunned your cars. When your on the expressway and all the traffic is doing 75 in a 65mph.. your breaking the law, sorry just because everybody else is doing it doesnt make it right.

I've seen stupid shit where some moron posts on the forums about how to disable the seatbelt chime and 2 days later his M5 is flying thru the air doing 150 at an airstrip... DEAD. I've seen STUPID people weave in and out of traffic recklessly. And I have seen /cough people 0-60 from a stop light (in a 55mph zone). I've also seen innocent 10 & 14 yr old girls MOWED DEAD by a drunk driver.

if you guys only put 1/2 the effort into the Genesis forums as you do in this thread it would only benefit the others who desire upgrades...

NO SH*T Right? Everyone has said their piece now lets have some peace.

What have we learned from this?

When you need the best possible acceleration performance from you Genesis in a MPTO config ie pulling out into med to high speed traffic shift her yourself. I wonder what that shift kit "boost" would be like up against a human?

That and don't be putting your pink slip on the line against a M3 or else you are walking home; and don't post your hot rod exploits on this forum unless you are willing to get a lectured by some folks.

Good to know.

Thanks Mark My father has an 04 XG350 and if memory servers even in manual she will up shift if you do not shift it soon enough for its liking. Which kinda defeats the manual in my opinion.

Now that some of us have offended a few people, I can we exploit the philosophical side of the question: "When somebody succeeds (survives) a self-induced high risk activity, are they emboldened to do it more often or do they actually learn from it and avoid repeating it?"

My vote - they just do it more often.

lets just say somebody was driving 145mph or so on a motorcycle and that somebody rode over a bump in the road while in a turn and the front tire came up a few inches at that speed.... that somebody did learn and sold the motorcycle shortly there after.

but to answer your question... yes i'd agree with you. it's not until something happens that puts things in perspective the person chills out.

There's a World of difference between going 10MPH over the speed limit on the freeway and street racing, where people come at you from all directions.

Btw, love you sarcasm.. (which I surely hope it was)

Actually im all over the place on this one ;)

Dont get me started on the chick fil a , argument from a few weeks ago.

And to put things into perspective alittle bit, check out some of the videos of the ANIMALS overseas blowing up American buildings because they were offended by the actions of one person not related to the national views of a country. Stop light racing vs killing a few innocent people just because your PEACEFUL religion was offended.

EDIT: Rabid animals in the USA are put down... .... ...

...and you officially lost it.!!!

So anyway, the MN Twins are now officially out of last place in the AL..............................................................................................................................................................................................................

Well Mr Big Tugg, I'm afraid I'm going to have to side with my other VET brothers here. 21 years in the Navy and still working for them 11 years later after retiring. So thats 32 years of serving my country and taking car of my military brothers and sisters. But you don't see me running around here or anywhere bragging about how I protected this country and my fellow countrymen and how that gives me the right to do stupid stuff and put others in danger. Matter of fact, my family has been protecting this country at least back to the Civil war, but yet none of us claim and fame or special consideration for what we have done.

I'll admit that I've done some stupid stuff over the years. And I'll probably do more stupid stuff up until the day I die. For me, it's part of life's experiences. But I try not to put others in danger and I DAMN sure don't use the excuse that "I've served my country for the last 32 years so that gives me the right to so".

I put my life in danger almost every day, one by riding a motorcycle, and two by working with explosives and self defense weapons systems for teh Navy. But I don't go out of my way putting others, including my fellow VET coworkers, into dagers situations.
