In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi Guys,

Got some sad news :(. Couple of weeks ago, I ran into some black ice and ended up rear ending a truck. My bumper, hood and lights are all gone :(. I haven't even gotten my first oil change yet.

The car is with the auto body shop and they are pretty much putting on genuine parts. However, they are not able to find a wiring harness that controls the engine, light, etc. Till they find that, they won't give me an appraisal.

Any of you ever got into an accident with you genesis before? Anyone care to share the experience? with the dealership and auto body shop?

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured.

Thanks
Kogu

Feel for you, others and car

Hope everyone is OK. The car is just a thing. It is odd that all the parts needed are not available from Hyundai. Make them use OEM lights for sure. Aftermarket headlights are crap. Had to have front end repaired on our TSX from hitting a deer. I told them to use OEM headlights, they did not and two weeks later we had a huge downpour, lights leaked. Insurance company ate the cost of the crap lights and all the extra labor plus the cost of the new OEM lights.

Read this thread by Genesis owner zedbyers: Genesis & Z06 accident

You're not the only one to suffer a crunched nose on a brand new Genesis. From the sound of it his damage was similar to your car though zedbyers didn't mention a wiring harness.

Thought i give an update on my repairs. This wiring harness has become a bottle neck for whole process. It was supposed to come in a shipment by yesterday, but now i find out it wont be here till March 21st.

So, The car is pretty much ready, but without this harness, the car is pretty much not drivable. SO another month of waiting around !!!

I crunched my '09. A deer committed suicide by wandering in front of me on a rural 4 lane divided highway at night. The right front corner was trashed, and it looked as if the deer rolled all the way down the passenger side of the car. There were actual hoofprint indentions in both passenger doors. I hope he crawled into the woods, gravely injured and in tremendous pain. I hope he lingered long enough for a pack of wild wolverines to find him and very slowly eat him alive.
The repair shop did an average job. I had to take it back several times, to have the hood aligned, to clean up overspray, etc. Fortunately, a few weeks after the repairs were complete, Hyundai swapped me into a 2011 Genesis for an unrelated issue.

Swapped you into a 11 from 09? HOw do you folks get that sort of deal ? Was it a big issue with your car that caused it?

My sorry tale is well documented on here already. I had a lemon that failed to perform almost from the day I bought it. I had to resort to hiring a lawyer to even get Hyundai to consider honoring their warranty. Eventually, I got out of the '09 and into an '11, but it was a very frustrating experience. About 3 months after getting the '11, it began suffering the exact same problems as the '09. I now drive a Sonota.

My boss also had a lemon, 2010. Hyundai handled his problem much better than they did mine, swapping him out after about the 5th repeat service visit (I had more than a dozen). Unfortunately, his second Genny had the same problem my first two did - all related to the DIS. He now drives an Accord. So, between us 4 Genesis' in under two years, all lemons. I still believe that cost/features, the Genesis is a good bargain.

How come you don't hate Hyundai as much as you seem to hate that deer? :)

Hyundai eventually did their best to make it right, sorta like the Democrat party (lots of good intentions, just not much in the way of results). That Al Quaeda deer did an IED on me. I saw the look in his eye - it was personal.

lol. He gave his life in an attempt to get you out of that Genesis and into another as quickly as possible. It just didn't work as planned. They were able to fix the the lemon.

I got broad-sided by a car "flying" out of a parking area of a mall- he crossed over 2 lanes of eastbound traffic to hit me going westbound. I thought I got hit by a meteor-- never saw him coming. Car lifted slightly off the ground and had about$ 6,000 in damages. Nobody got hurt thankfully, and I must say that the Genesis protected all inside. Cops were amazed. Anyway, I'm glad I was driving a safe car--- I am VERY pleased with my purchase-- no complaints. Did take a bit of time to get it fixed-- took time for parts and a bit of bulls---t from the shop, but am happy with the repair.

Now that was a funny post but I suppose the FBI was unaware of said "Al Quaeda" Deer or you might have noticed a GPS tracking device on his undercarriage!!!
How do you like the Sonata vs. the genesis?

Hey guys. Was looking for an appropriate thread to post to for this one.

Last Tuesday, I hit a deer. Yep! I hit a deer with my Genni.

I was on 295 parkway, and to the left of me out of the grassy null area, here comes Bambi doe. I was going about 55 mph. Could not swerve into the adjacent lane because of other cars. Bambi was on a collision course for a full frontal assult, when I swerved in my lane catching the doe on the left side, shearing off my power mirror, and doing some damage to side of the driver and passenger doors.

It could of been a lot worse, accourding to the officer who was a few car lenghts behind me.

Ironically, the officer came to me and stated he had to put the deer down and I would hear a loud pop. So he stopped traffic, and proceeded to pull out his glock and shoot the deer.

Bambi was toast.

The damage to the car was about $2000.00.

Yep! I am Genni-less for the week.

Totaled 6 day old 2012 Genesis. Headon collision at 60mph with truck. Finally just now getting it replaced 14 rSpec Sedan.

Yikes - was that 60 mph combined speed (i.e., him going 30 and you going 30) or 60 mph each?

Says something about how they build cars these days, that people can walk away from something like that.

BTW, the link to your picture doesn't work within your post, for some reason. I'm assuming you're willing to share it with anyone and everyone, so I'm posting it as a URL - should be able to just click on the link and get there. Amazing pictures.

I was doing about 60 and the truck was turning left (in front of me), so he was probably doing about 10mph.

After hitting the truck, I then impacted the guard rail (which nearly gave way, which would have sent me end-over-end down a ravine).

My main injury was a badly fractured sternum, which I am still recovering from almost 2 years and 2 surgeries later.

Reminds me of my 38 day old Sonata back in 2010.

Yeesh - and I was P.O.'d to hell and back when I found a big parking lot scratch on the rear bumper of my 2-week-old 2013 Sonata a couple of years ago...
