  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings,

Just acquired a 2009 V6 premium plus with nav. This is the third Hyundai I own (Santa Fe and Genesis Coupe) and the first used one I've bought. Very clean Titanium w black interior, 64k miles for $14,300. I'm reading up on as much of the threads as I can to dial it in. Already changed the air cleaner, cabin filter and planning on new coolant and P/S fluid. Dealer did the brake fluid recall as well as the stop light switch recall and an oil change. Do you gearheads out there see anything glaring as to general maintenance needed? I do have one foglight out and read a ton of threads about upgrading them but I think I'll just replace it. Thanks for any input.... she drives sweet.

Welcome to the club! :welcome:

That looks like a great price. Consider investing in an extended bumper to bumper warranty. Haven't researched them yet, but my 2009 Tech is coming up on the 60 month mark in March '14 so I'll be investigating soon (lots of threads on them here).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The credit union I financed it with gave me a smokin rate (1.74%) and sold me a Mercury "Platinum" 3yr 100K coverage ($505) which includes loaner and tires. I'm sure getting warranty work done will be an issue because I dont have receipts for an oil change every 7500 miles. Hoping any exception would only be engine related. We'll see.... Carfax had no issues and I had the dealer check it out for $120. First 1000 miles without a burp. Fingers crossed.

I bought my used 2009 Genesis V8 from a Hyundai dealer back in 2012. Paid a relatively premium price for it but it was loaded with every accessory known to man in 2009 plus it had ONLY 13,800 miles on it. Truly owned by a little old lady. The car was/is immaculate and it has been trouble-free. I am now at 29,000 miles. I blew out the CD/DVD player by my own fault. This device is warranted for only 3 years. I did buy an extended warranty and that company, through the dealer, completely replaced the radio-CD/DVD player and navigation head. Works fine now and I even picked up up-dated nav maps in the doing.

Good luck with your 2009.

In 2009 the Premium Package did not have Nav (required Tech Package). Do you have a round DIS controller knob below the shifter? If so, you have Tech Package (along with Premium Package).

It is possible that you have Premium Package only, but with aftermarket UNAVI system. Later on, Genesis Premium Package came with touch screen Nav, but not in 2009.

My mistake I'll change that to read Tech..I think this car has every option available including the 18" wheels.

Maintenance = If you plan on keeping the car well past 100k then have the transmission fluid changed and rear diff. gear oil changed at about 75k. Also coat all door weather stripping with silicone spray or talc.
