  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey!

So, I have been around here for a while and owned my car since 2012 pretty flawlessly...until this week.

So, the button on my drivers side door handle decided to up and die. So, I took out my physical key to unlock the door manually...and that didn't work either. So, I grabbed my spare key fob thinking maybe the key fob wasn't transmitting a signal...nope. Button still does not work. Tried my spare key fob's physical key and that didn't work either.

I then ventured to the passenger side of the car and that button works like a charm. So I just cant use the door handle button of physical tumble lock.

Anyone have any experience with this? She is going into the shop tomorrow night so the techs can look at it. They will be giving me a car ;).

Thanks all

OFG.

OFG, couple of questions;

-Once you are in the driver seat, if you press the lock/unlock button does that lock / unlock door? Do you hear the solenoid working?
- Can you unlock the driver side using the manual key (slides out of the fob)?
- Can you manually lock and unlock the car from inside and the outside?

I had a similar issue back in 2011 on the 2009 caused by a weird condition, where I looked the door as it was closing", But in my case the door locked and would not open at all! I had to use the passenger door to get in/out of the car...

Good questions.

I can use the interior lock/unlock button. Works flawlessly.

I cannot unlock the door using the manual key that slides out of either fob.

I can manually lock and unlock from the inside. Outside, I have to use the fob buttons or the passenger door button

I would speculate that something is wrong with the door handle itself, most likely a mechanical issue since you are unable to unlock it using the spare key.

Are you going to try and fix it your self or take it to the dealer?

It has been a while since I looked at the service manual but I dig it up if you like?

Thanks, I have the service manual. So, driving today 2 warning lights came on and the lights started flickering. The dealer said they fixed it...they didn't. They think it is a short in the seat belt circuit that is intermittent. So, this will be fun

Is it still under the 5 year 60,000 mile warranty??

Unfortunately no. It was a 2009 with 77k on the clock

Haha. Dukes style? lol

Wanted to give everyone an update on this before I sold her. When I took it into the dealer, my friend who is the Genesis tech told me he thinks it is a short that he would have to chase and to bring it back.

The seat belt light would not stop flashing, the car started to not recognize if there was a key in the vehicle, the lights flickered and the coup de grâce was that the short spread to the garage door opener and randomly opened and closed my garage door.

Took the winter wheels off of her that day and sold it :).
