  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was going to put this in the thread about not starting my car for eight days, but decided I'd put it here as it is not Genesis orientated.

About a month ago, my blood test showed that I had a PSA of 4.65, which in itself is not too bad, as they like to see it below 5, but my doctor was alarmed that my PSA2 was down to 6 when they like to see it above 10. (I never heard of a PSA2). They then took biopsys on 12 pieces from my prostate, and four of the twelve were positive. Next, they did a bone scan to see if it spread to my bones, but that test came out negative. OK, I now had options. I chose to have my prostate removed, using the Davinci Robotic procedure. Long story short, after further tests, and prep, I had to drive from Mount Dora, to a hospital in Ocala, leaving home at 3am to be there by 5am.
They prepped me, put me under at 6:50am on the 25th, and did not wake up until 2:30pm that afternoon. Doctor took four hours for the procedure. I had a lot of pain from the "bore holes", but NO pain from the area where the prostate had been. They sent me home on the 26th, at 2PM. Had a lot of pain from both the four "bore holes" and a drain hole in my abdomen, and in addition, I was wearing a catheter. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.

Today, I went to the doctors office, had some x-rays done, then they removed the catheter. Four hours later, went back and they took sonegram (sp) of my bladder to make sure it holds liquid.

Now, I feel much better. I have to do kegel exercises for my system to relearn how to not have accidents. (This is the only thing that worries me now).

Well, I Survived, and my doctor says that I will be out on the Golf Course in another two weeks.

Thats great, except I don't play golf. :grouphug:

In your spare time, go to google and look up both kegel or kegel exercises, and also look up Davinci or Davinci Prostate, (you get the idea). Wonderfull machine now that they don't have to cut you open anymore.
My very best friends passed away seven years ago from Prostate Cancer, and I saw how much pain he was in, so I knew I wanted mine out. In a way, I think my best friend saved my life. Had it not been for him, I would not get myself checked nearly as often.

Great story and glad you are on the mend.

Might be time to pick up golf eh? Its a great game.

funny you mentioned Kegel exercises.. I have recently been exploring those for other reasons....

I'm happy that you're on the mend and all (as I said in the other thread), but I do have a quick question:
Did you not trust Mrs. Bob to take Genny out for a spin every few days?
;-)

Continue the mend! Good Health & God Bless!

I have had prostate cancer for nearly six years that I know of. They told me I was going to die in a few months if I did not have it removed or burned with radiation. I chose to find another doctor. I do the exact opposite of what most doctors would have you do. I give myself a testosterone injection every week (prescription needed). Some guy (name escapes me) won a Nobel prize in the 1960s for determining that prostate cancer is caused by too much testosterone. Just one problem it is actually caused by too little testosterone.

Most doctors would not give testosterone to someone with a known case of prostate cancer but I have been doing it for more than three years (maybe four) and I am not dead yet. I give myself twice the dose most healthy people would be given a prescription for.

A few doctors are finally learning that they have had it all wrong since the 1960s.

The guy that invented the PSA test has disowned it. He now says that it has nothing to do with cancer it is a determiner of an enlarged prostate or prostatitis.

My PSA has been as high as 23. Four weeks ago it was 15. It fluctuates as much as four points up or down it six weeks.

As far as I know I still have cancer. There is no way I will ever have another biopsy. Biopsies can spread the cancer to other parts of the body and mine hurt like hell. I thought I was goin to pass out in the doctor's office.

Funny you should say that. Now that Mrs. Bob has started taking me around, mostly yesterday, but also just before the operation, she now loves my car. Matter of fact, on our last visit to Orlando Hyundai a couple weeks ago, she spotted a White 2011 4.6 Tech, and now all I hear is about that car she saw. I may have to do something about that, to compensate her for the good care she has given me.

My best friend passed away back in January 2003 from Prostate Cancer. Although he told me back around 1998 that he had Prostate Cancer, he never told me of any procedures that were offered him. We were the best of friends, and either if any treatment was offered him, or if he just decided like you to do the wait and see, he never told me. I now wish I had questioned him more about his cancer. I do know that for the last eight months or so of his life, (his words) he was getting a "shot in the abdomen" every five weeks. (Sounds to me like a long needle injecting into the prostate, but I don't know). I only wish I had questioned him more when he was alive. He suffered a lot the last two months of his life. (I used to take him to all his doctor visits and hospital tests). He got so bad, that on December 28th, I could not get him out of bed to get him dressed for an appointment. I got a bucket of clean water, and washed him up as he had messed himself, then called the paramedics, who took him to the hospital. After giving emergency all his information, I went back to his place, got his dogs and took them to my place, then returned back to the hospital. By then, he was admitted. He told me, "Bobby, I got bad news, they say I have 7 to 10 days to live". As it turned out, he lived 5 days. The last two days, he was on unlimited morphine. He was my best friend. I miss him dearly. I don't want to go like that.
