I was going to put this in the thread about not starting my car for eight days, but decided I'd put it here as it is not Genesis orientated.
About a month ago, my blood test showed that I had a PSA of 4.65, which in itself is not too bad, as they like to see it below 5, but my doctor was alarmed that my PSA2 was down to 6 when they like to see it above 10. (I never heard of a PSA2). They then took biopsys on 12 pieces from my prostate, and four of the twelve were positive. Next, they did a bone scan to see if it spread to my bones, but that test came out negative. OK, I now had options. I chose to have my prostate removed, using the Davinci Robotic procedure. Long story short, after further tests, and prep, I had to drive from Mount Dora, to a hospital in Ocala, leaving home at 3am to be there by 5am.
They prepped me, put me under at 6:50am on the 25th, and did not wake up until 2:30pm that afternoon. Doctor took four hours for the procedure. I had a lot of pain from the "bore holes", but NO pain from the area where the prostate had been. They sent me home on the 26th, at 2PM. Had a lot of pain from both the four "bore holes" and a drain hole in my abdomen, and in addition, I was wearing a catheter. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.
Today, I went to the doctors office, had some x-rays done, then they removed the catheter. Four hours later, went back and they took sonegram (sp) of my bladder to make sure it holds liquid.
Now, I feel much better. I have to do kegel exercises for my system to relearn how to not have accidents. (This is the only thing that worries me now).
Well, I Survived, and my doctor says that I will be out on the Golf Course in another two weeks.
Thats great, except I don't play golf.
In your spare time, go to google and look up both kegel or kegel exercises, and also look up Davinci or Davinci Prostate, (you get the idea). Wonderfull machine now that they don't have to cut you open anymore.
My very best friends passed away seven years ago from Prostate Cancer, and I saw how much pain he was in, so I knew I wanted mine out. In a way, I think my best friend saved my life. Had it not been for him, I would not get myself checked nearly as often.
