  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My V8 is Sick

For things like air filters, tires, etc. maybe, but internal mechanical items that require unbolting engine parts seems unusual and hopefully frowned upon.

Maybe up north its different...

Agreed just acknowledging it as “common practice” does not morally justify it. This is one of the reasons I was there when my car came off the truck stayed while it was prepped and drove it home.

On my way home from work at a stop light the engine started running really rough. I mean as in missing 1 or 2 cylinders. Very low on power, almost seemed like I had the V6. :D I was close to the dealership so I went straight there with it. As it was like 4:58 and they close at 5:00, they will put in on the computer tomorrow morning to see what went wrong. My gut feeling is a coil pack died but will inform all of the outcome tomorrow. Now I have to go find a paper bag to put over my head as I need to drive my wife's Nissan cube to work tomorrow as the dealership had no loaners available. :o

my 2009 genesis 4.6 went in for engine misfire codes, replaced spark plugs and coil packs, did not remedy the misfire codes.

Just got a call back after 2 days to say it was like you mentioned an oil control valve, and that it was covered still under the 100K powertrain warranty. PRAISE GOD!

I would think they should inventory more parts state side. I can see waiting a day for a Fedex delivery from a US depot, but this ordering parts from S. Korea is cooling my jets about the Genesis.
OP is in Canada. Hyundai Canada and Hyundai Motor America are two separate companies. Probably not reasonable to expect Hyundai Canada to stock very many parts, based on their low sales volume.

It may be that if you needed one in the USA, they might have it. But remember that there are a lot of different Hyundai models, and a lot of different model years, so that adds up to a lot of parts. They might not want to stock all of them unless they realized that certain ones were failing and needed to be stocked.

Mine is doing the exact same thing:eek: not sure what it is. help!!

Did everything work out with the ocv replacement? I'm having the same issue with my car but the dealer hasn't considered the ocv yet

Yep, once replaced never any further issues.

That's great to hear. May I ask which dealership you went to? I'd like to contact them to ask how they diagnosed that. I've been trying to get the dealership here to replace the ocv but have had no luck.
Much appreciated.

Unless you speak French you may not get your information across as well as you should and they may have a hard time answering you. http://www.hyundaiblainville.com/en-CA/home To my recollection, they do not find these issues, they plug it in and the computer tells them what is wrong. Unfortunately this is how things work today but it did solve my issue.
