  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I thought it would never happen to me. The dreaded "Please Wait" command that we all know about when using voice command. Well, it happened to me. Froze my system. Locked me out of my musical bliss. I try pulling the main fuse, only to have the voice commands completely crap out.

So, I take the car to the dealer. "No problem" they say, and take my amp...giving me the car back. So I have been driving for 5 days without a radio...this will drive a sane person mad. Questioning the meaning of life, wondering if I should go back to school, wondering what color a Smurf turns if you choke it. You know, the usual.

So I get a call today from my dealer. I am uber excited thinking I am going to bring my car in, hook that shiz up and have my beautiful musical cocaine back...not so much. They tell me the amp is out of warranty and they need my extended warranty information. No problem. I jump in my car, tell them the info and say have a good day. I wish that was the end of it.

I get a call from the dealership around 11am. They said the claim has to be processed with my car on the premises, can I stop by on my lunch (25mins away from work). I beg and plead my boss (I have been on this job for 1.5 months....) and he says fine. I go. The warranty claim goes through! YAYYYYY. With a condition.

The car must remain on the dealership lot until the repair is completed...poop. The warranty company is willing to pay $30 a day for a rental car for up to a maximum of 2 days. Yay? Not quite. A) The car wouldn't be fixed until friday...that's 3 days! B) I am 22. I cannot legally rent a car yet. Well, back to the drawing board.

The service manager agrees to let me drive a Hyundai Veracruz from the lot for the 3 days. I am driving a 2012 Hyundai Veracruz Limited with 1100 miles on it. Honestly, the thing kinda sucks.

The service writer then tells me I have a $100 deductible (I knew this) and that the repair of the amp will be $765 before deductible. If they cannot repair it, they will replace it. Costing me $100 still, but the amp is $3,465 and some change.

Extended warranty cost me $1,300. Money well spent IMHO!

Anyway, these were my woes and all that getting the Genesis serviced entails. Please feel free to discuss below.

So, the TSB 12-BE-012-1 did not solve your issue?

That's insane. Sadly, if someone had to pay out of pocket for it, there isn't any aftermarket alternative to decode the digital sound from the head unit. What a sham.

Good argument for extended warranties.

It totally is a good argument. I read around the forums here for about 4 months before purchasing my car. I knew the head units/amps in the 2009's were touchy lol.

Hopefully I get my car back tonight. This Veracruz is a gas guzzler (no joke)

Did they improve on the 2010+ models, or are the amps and H/Us the same?

That is a question I do not know the answer to.

On a side note, my dealership just called me. The amp arrived and the car is back together and working! They wanted to charge me $100 for the map update...which is cheap. But I cant see dropping $200 today on the car, so I put that on hold. I cant wait to pick up my baby!!!!

That is good news. From what I undertstand, the map update is rather lengthy and some dealers are experiencing system freezes/hangs during update.
