  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was away on a 7 day trip and had my 2011 Genny Sedan Tech in the garage the entire time. I got back and drove the car and the nav system will not boot up. It says the nav system is starting please wait. Is this normal because the system has been out of satellite range too long. Is there a reset procedure I can follow? All the other functions work on the head unit minus the nav.

Thanks for any help. I am afraid to pull the a battery cable to reset the system.

Thanks...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Try turning it all off with the off/volume button beside the cd slot. Then turn it back on with same button. If that does not work you may have to disconnect the neg. battery terminal in the trunk for 3 minutes or so then reconnect. Computers can sometimes do strange things and a complete reboot may fix it. I know that laptops sometimes will not boot up or will hang and thay can be rebooted after unplugging the power cord and then taking the battery out for a minute or so then replacing the battery and they will then boot up and act normal again. Not sure why but it works.

I just had a similar situation with my 2012 3.8 w/premium. Not only did I lose the nav system, but I lost the entire audio system. No radio. no XM, no iPod, no backup camera, nothing but the Genesis screen on the display. I pulled into a parking lot and shut of the entire car and restarted it. No solution. So then I shut off the car and opened the driver's door, shut it and restarted the car. Everything worked! Why? I have no idea. Next time it freezes, I am going straight to the dealership so they can see it.
