Been here awhile...
Got my VIM for the Genesis today and the installation was fair but I'm not that handy as far as electronics go.
1st test was removing the cover for the radio. I took a pastic edge and I finally was able to pry if off 20 minutes
Make sure to cover the wood with a towel as you will need to set your radio on it
In order to put on the VIM the Genesis will NOT be able to shut off completely.
Once the radio is out you have very little wiggle room. It took me a while to detach the harness from the radio. 35 minutes.
I attached everything according to the instructions when finished I was unable to use some of my functions. After going over the everything I found out I installed the video input incorrectly..once I corrected everything worked fine 25 minutes
The hardest part was putting back the radio in to place, as we have much more equipment behind the radio and I found extra space the upper right of the radio. Finally I lined up the screws and nuts in place put the face back on and I now have video in motion.
Total time was 2 hours and 15 minutes. If you know what you are doing probably just over and hour.
The control of the VIM is connected to the Voice control button on the steering wheel
Hold down 3 seconds and bingo the video appears...same goes to turn it off.
Will enjoy this feature on long trips for passengers
