  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Nav Update 8.5 Available

Has anyone contacted Hyundai and complained that cars made a few months earlier are being screwed out of the latest maps?

I don't know abt you guys. But my car already came with this update. MAP VERSION 07.47.65.501.001
I already mentioned that in the previous post, it will be nice if we can share this information so we all can know what is the actual difference.

Upload it then

My 2015 Ultimate, purchased in October, did not come with this version. I have 07.43.43.003.001.

I just bought mine this week, and I have 07.43.43.003.001. I wonder if the dealerships have a license to install the update onto multiple cars.

Speaking for the owners of the original model, the 2009 Genesis, ours came with the 2008 maps (already out of date) and they have never offered to update them. It's always been at a $200-300 cost to the car owner.

That's a shame, Ford offered on free update on our 2013 Focus.

So I bought the update after talking to two local dealers and Hyundai customer care. In short, the dealers pay for the updates just like we do and there is no one who will give it for free. I did complain to Hyundai customer care about having a car that is so new already have an update for the maps available which Hyundai wants a ridiculous amount of money for. Customer care is investigating my case and might give me a partial/full refund but there are no guarantees.

Here is the kicker however, the update is defective. According to MapNSoft tech-support I was the second customer to purchase the update in the United States. The first customer discovered that the update fails if there is a CD in the drive. My shipping envelope had a sticker on it telling me to empty the CD tray and turn off Bluetooth on my phone. But at least it sounds like customer number one eventually got the update to work.

In my car the update prompts to run every single time I start the car. When you run the update it tells you that there is no update available and reboots. So it's stuck in an endless cycle of prompting you to update and then telling you there's no update available. Your only options are to ignore the update prompt until it times out or reply no to the prompt, every time you start the car.

I've supplied tech-support with detailed information and I am now waiting to hear back from them.

Wow, sorry to hear that BrianAmira but thanks for letting us all know, I also have a case open with Customer Care and keep being told that a 8.50 release is coming soon (even though i've told them it's available on the website)?

I don't know if they are just blowing smoke, we'll see...

To be honest with you idk what version my Genny came with. But when I was scheduled to pick up my delivery, I checked my maps weren't working. So I asked the sales person he then checked, basically my system's SD card was stolen but the nice sales man requested the manager for new SD card copy so that maps version were 07.47.65.501.001. So I guess I just got lucky here.

I picked up my 2015 in July 2014. I have a 06. something Nav version. Interesting note a couple years after I purchased a 2011 Genesis I was sent a free Nav update coupon from Hyundai. Took it into the dealer and after a 4 hour update, the cost was $0. Will Hyundai be so kind again???

It was funny. I drove on an unknown toll road east of Tyler TX. I had set the the route just for fun. It was a trip watching the navi-computer semi freak and then show me going 80 mph over open fields. :D

can we pool our money, get one and share it? $200+ for a map update is just silly.

Even though I bought my car in December, it has an old nav map, 06.50.71.001.003. I wasn't aware until recently that the map shows 3D renderings of tall buildings. It is a bit cartoonish and not nearly as nice as what comes in my VW Touareg.

Do the newer maps have this feature?

Dealer is updating mine today free of charge to fix GPS issues where it shows me driving several miles away from where I really am.

My Ultimate HTRAC D.o.b. was June 2, 2014, and the NAV version that came on it is 06.50.71.001.003. I bought my car at about the same date as your D.o.b., and I'm not happy I missed this new version by so little. From experience, I think my NAV version is pretty old. Does anyone know:
1) When 06.50.71.001.003 was released?
2) What D.o.b. first had 8.5?

Double check it, because i had the same issue, and they did a software update and not a map update...

Just an FYI, the official nav update website http://www.mapnsoft.com/hyundai/ is showing an 8.5 update available for the 2015 Genesis.

I know it would be impossible to do, but it would be nice if you could try the upgrade before you buy. I just purchased a new 2015 Hyundai Genesis and watch the salesman take the SD car out of the package and install it in the SD slot on my console. WOW, a brand spanking new Navigation system.

I live on the east coast in Delaware and about a little over a year ago, they completed a new interchange on Interstate 95, both north and south bound connecting to route 1 with new fly over express lanes. Guess what, does not show up on my navigation. It stills show the old road without the fly overs. And this a year later after the road had been completed and opened.

Has the issue been resolved? Was it worth the upgrade? Hyundai customer care have basically said the same to me, go buy it and we might give you a refund but we can't promise... but i'm wondering if it's worth it..

My issue remains unsolved and I've been told it might be several months before a fix is available. I would call this upgrade not worth it. I was hoping it would add some streets near me which were opened near the end of 2015 but it did not.
