2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 L with Navigation: believe it is Premium package 31k MILES
So the battery conked: Called dealer: he says I am still in warranty (3 yr 36 K) and asked me to have it brought over. Called Hyundai Roadside and they sent somebody out.
Guy says he prefers to jump it from the trunk directly from the battery rather than from the front where the battery jump posts are. Tries to jump it: NOGO Says I need to have it towed to the dealer.
Called Hyundai Roadside assist again and the guys comes out with Tow Truck and jumps it from the hood and Voila the car starts. However, the Navigation Display wont come on. Radio and all other controls on steering wheel work.
I take it to the dealer: replaces battery and tries to submit a claim for the navigation unit and it comes back that I am out of warranty period (38 months) and says it would cost $5400 to replace the Nav Unit.
At this time I am highly aggrieved because I know that the Nav Unit went out because of the way it was jumped. I am not sure if the first guy short circuited some chip or something.
Call up Hyundai customer care: have a case open with them but do not seem to have much hope that anything will come out of it.
At this time: i reach out to the community as to what my options are to somehow get Hyundai to pay for the replacement.
I would also like to check other options to somehow have the Navigation display to come back on OR to have my Nav Unit Display replaced by an after market option. Dont know if Unavi is an option because it seems it is only for Non-Navigation Genesis.
