  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Navigation Map and Software Update Discussion Thread

Did anyone notice the handling being better after the update? The car seems to be a lot more confident making turns in Eco and Comfort mode than before. Is it placebo?

I vote placebo, but all that matters is what you believe and feel. 😄

Regarding the “setting to permanently enable”: the last thing this car needs is more friggin’ settings. The right (read simple) way to do this is to just have the car remember the last setting for these features.
I will take either for the fall update.

What's eco and comfort :drive:

Those with Android Auto - do your maps match in color theme between the left screen and the right screen? I have the setting in Android Auto as automatic for day/night, but during the day time when using wireless Android Auto, my driver's screen map is always in dark mode while the main screen is in light mode. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but I just find it weird.

I've left our '24 GV60 running on Utility Mode for about an hour and 15 minutes and nothing is happening (re: OTA update). We've also driven quite a bit today without the car mentioning an OTA update. Is there something I need to toggle to get this sucker to download?!?

Do you have your phone set to dark mode?

Hi Saratoga Lefty- I was having similar problems yesterday. Fellow member IcSS55 kindly suggested the following solution, which worked for me: "Delete the cars profile in CarPlay from settings. Delete the GV60 Bluetooth profile. Remove the phone from the connected devices in the car. Then, go to Phone Projection in the car, and add the phone from there. Ignore the prompt to plug the phone in. Just hit add device and follow the prompts. That should work." Give it a try and let us know whether it works for you.
Thank you TiburonH and lcSS55. That did work and now when I start the car it shows CarPlay where the "Phone Projection" icon had been. Interestingly it does now show the GV60 on my iPhone CarPlay setting but in my iPhone Bluetooth setting the GV60 shows as "disconnected"?? Not sure what that means but I'm excited to try the various dash configurations with CarPlay and Navigation. Any tricks I need to know to use them??

Hi Saratoga Lefty- Delighted that you now have access to wireless CarPlay. Not sure why your iPhone is showing the GV60 as "disconnected" on Bluetooth; mine shows connected. But maybe this is a temporary artifact that will disappear after you turn the car and/or phone on and off a couple of times? Anyway, I can't yet offer any advice on particular tricks -- this is all new territory. I will say though that, as much as I am thrilled to have access to all the clear advantages of Apple's maps and navigation system vs Hyundai's, I am thinking that I may stick with the Hyundai system for the display of media information -- I just think their graphics are more stylish and elegant than those used by Apple.

I drove around this evening with it set up and I love the Apple Maps graphics on the dash screen and the directions on the HUD, plus I leave Waze open on the panel screen to alert me to police, objects on the road, etc. Best of both worlds and the Apple Map instructions both verbal and visual are so much better and timely. Now I have to hook up my wife's iPhone following your instructions and see how that goes. She has been having phone call problems since the update so I'm hoping once I get her set up those will go away.

So... did you guys just have this update download to your car OTA or did you use the Navigation Updater program and port the update over with a USB drive? It's very weird to me that this update came out on 9/11 and it hasn't automatically updated on our car via OTA updates. Do I have to be driving for hours at a time to give the OTA enough time to download?!? As I mentioned above, we ran the car on Utility Mode for well over an hour yesterday and nothing downloaded.

OTA is the only way to get it right now. I drove 35 minutes to work on 9/11 and it was available a few hours later. I did have to go out to my car and turn it on to start the download. After it starts to download and/or install you can shut it off. For some of us it took ~20 minutes to download and four hours to install. You can try utility mode as some have suggested in posts a few days ago.

Can you share a couple pics of how the dash and MMI panel look with CP?

I thought the car had to be running for the download but could be shut off for the install. Am I wrong?

Utility mode didn’t work for me. I finally left the car running in the garage and that did the trick. It’s my wife’s car but if I get a chance today I’ll try to grab a photo or two.

So a quick update for Canadians (Even though I think some of you in canada got it for some reason). I contacted both MapnSoft chat, and called in to genesis navigation update support. Both says it's NOT available for the GV60 yet. The guy from genesis navigation support said likely October, as it should only be available for G70/G80/Gv70/gv80 right now.

I don't know how accurate this is, but, definitely jealous of you guys that have it right now.
THANK YOU for this update, Jusanotherguy! Appreciate you reaching out for all us Canadians waiting for this. 🙏 :p

It did take a long time. I finally just parked it in my garage and left it running. Nice thing about electric cars...no exhaust fumes to worry about. Finally downloaded and installed.
Funnily enough, the Genesis Connect app still sends this message to my phone when I leave the car running for extended periods of time when not in it.

Nope that didn't work. Phone in light mode and driver's screen map still in dark mode. Oh well, I can live with it.
Hi Berkeley squirrel- maybe try this?

Change the theme to light or dark mode

You can change the Android Auto theme. But now you can forcefully change the theme from your phone. To do this:

  1. Open Android Auto on your phone.
  2. Under Maps, tap Day/Night mode for maps.
  3. Select Day or Night.
red rectangle outline over day/night mode for maps on android auto app

red rectangle outline over day/night mode for maps options
You can also set the day and night theme from your phone or in the car. To do this, you must enable developer mode and navigate to the developer settings.

  1. Go to Developer settings (three-dot icon in Android Auto app).
  2. Tap Day/Night.
  3. Choose Car-controlled, Phone-controlled, Day, or Night.
red rectangle outline over day/night option in developer settings

red rectangle outline over day/night options in developer settings
Selecting the Car-controlled option means Android Auto will go into dark and light mode depending on the light conditions; if you're temporarily shifting between light and dark areas (tunnels, for example), it's better to avoid this altogether. Using Phone-controlled day and night mode means the theme matches your current phone's light and dark mode theme. Then, selecting day and night forces Android Auto to stick to one theme despite the conditions.
