  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For 2010 there seem to be 2 different navigation systems. It is hard to get specs and so far an online manual has eluded me.

From this forum and what I can find elsewhere it appears the Premium/Navigation package on the V6 and the standard Nav on the V8 is a 6.5" touch screen that has its map on a disc that used the single DVD drive. The Technology package on either car use a Nav that has 8" screen but requires buttons and knobs for input and uses a hard to update harddisk (only dealer updates and no updates yet).

Is that accurate? Any word on what the 2011 will have?

That's generally an accurate comparison. No, there's no indication on what the 2011 models will have.

You can get manuals (including the 2010 Premium Nav reference) at http://www.hmaservice.com. Sign up for a free account, login, and then go to the Service Information > OM (owner's manuals) area. You can download all of the manuals in PDF format from any Hyundai vehicle. One caveat: it's Hyundai Motors America's service site, so the manuals and offerings can and will vary depending on the region (e.g. Canada).

I couldn't get that site to work with firefox, but it worked with IE.

It appears that they stuffed a self-contained radio/nav headunit into the spot of the radio, giving them a lower cost alternative to the DIS. The DIS was designed to be an integrated system along the lines of the MB, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, and Jaguar systems.

My QX56 and other Infinitis combine touch screen and the controls. I think the new Audis do also. There is probably an upgrade coming for the Equus , the question is whether the rushed-into-production-a-year-early Genesis gets it also.

The Korean and demonstration U.S. variant of the Equus were equipped with the Lexicon DIS system, but of course that may change for the launch this year.

I believe the Premium Nav system is the internally developed GPS, not the Harman Becker built one that's in the DIS.

Keep in mind that Hyundai/Kia are partnering with Microsoft to build a new telematics system similar to Ford's Sync, so that might be in the mix in the future.
