  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recently my navigation no longer worked correctly. I called Genesis support and was informed that my packages expired and I would have to renew. Supposidly at the end of the three years all of that good stuff expires. To me that is absurd . I become more and more disenchanted with the entire ownership experience with Genesis from the stand alone dealerships to the service at the Hyundai dealer. This is my first and final Genesis.

Your navigation continues to work just fine, and you can even still update the maps in it for free. (I don't know of any other manufacturer with free map updates.)
The only part that doesn't work is the voice POI search from the button on the mirror.

What is not working on the navigation?

When your 3 year included services runs out you do lose the "send to car" and the button on the mirror feature. The mapping itself should still work.

When you bought the car it should have been explained the connected services are three years. It says so on the web site and other places.

I could not use previous destinations nor could I manually input new destinations. That was never explained to me when I bought the car but the sale as person was a Hyundai employee. Enough of the stand alone dealer B S.

You have some other problem going on then. All of that works without connected services.

You may have some other issue but not enough information to say for sure. How long ago did you connected services run out? Have you used the navigation since? Is it still shoing location as you drive? Have you tried a reset on the head unit?

The sales employee was not a Hyundai employee. He worked for the independently owned dealership, not that it helps. Many of the dealers do suck though.

This one truly did suck. This started happening at the end of the 3 year warranty. We started to use the directions on our smart phones until the previous destinations no longer worked.

I agree, my 3 year period has also ended and the navigation still works fine.

I also find it strange.

1. My previous two Sonatas all had the built in Maps/Navi. They worked fine even after three years.
(I don’t use, unsubscribed from Blue-Link).

2. My present 2017 Cadenza, the built in Maps/Navi works just fine.
(I don’t use, Not subscribed to UVO).

3. My present 2018 Regal, the built in Maps/Navi works just fine. Although car is capable of On-Star, I do not have an On-Star subscription. Built in Maps/Nav works just fine.

Someone at Genesis or dealer not telling him the truth.

A few months ago, when I took the 2023 G90 in for its first oil change, I noticed that there was a pop-up message on the Nav that basically said that the maps were outdated and the system would be inoperable soon. I told the service department rep about it, and he said they couldn't update it, and I would have to call Genesis, which I did on my way home. Genesis then turfed the problem onto MapnSoft, the company that supports the Nav software. The agent there (Luz) was very helpful. She instructed me to log into a Genesis update website and download the update onto a thumb drive, after which I was to install it into the car. That process involves sitting down and downloading the data onto a 64 GB thumb drive (which I don't have) and then install it by plugging the thumb drive into the car while leaving it running "in a secure location" while it loads. I honestly haven't had the time to do this, and just yesterday, the Nav system folded its arms and decided not to work anymore. This is insane, especially in a 2023 vehicle! After 6 years, the Nav system in my Rolls still works, even if there might have been a few updates missing. I called Genesis Connected Services and asked if it could be updated OTA, but evidently, that can be done only after I do the manual update I described above. I asked if they could just send me the thumb drive already preloaded, and they said yes, but there would be a fee associated with it. All of this in a 2023 vehicle! Frustrating, to say the least. Although I truly enjoy driving the G90 on a daily basis, the idiosyncrasies are getting to be a bit too much to accept. This is my second G90, and quite likely will be my last.

If you come visit me, don't use the Rolls, my street won't be on the navigation. Genesis updates twice a year.
You can drive while loading the update. Only thing, the radio and cameras will not work while it is loading.

Never heard of one not working do to lack of update. That is new. Cannot imagine why.

Mine did the same thing the day I bought it, the dealer didn't do the update. It was after service hours so they told me I would have to come back, glad that it was user upgradable. I would be nice if it was over air though.
