  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A new speed event just opened on the West Coast and that is the Mojave Airport "Mojave Mile" (Southern California). The Mojave airport, (next door to Edwards AFB) is home to Burt Rutan and his works, the National Test Pilot school and some of the the most exciting experimental airplanes in the World.

I'd like to see if anyone would like to come out and run their V-8 to see what it will do? A car without any spoilers is preferred but not necessary. The runway is 12,000 feet and plenty long to make your runs safely. I'm curious to see what a V-8 will do. As I am bringing my motorcycle down from Santa Cruz to run it, I will not be able to bring my car.

I will loan you my helmet and leathers and will help you prep the car. If you don't care to go fast, I'll drive the car for you. There is an entry fee and an exciting time guaranteed. Check out their website at--

Unless someone modifies the computer, the speed is governor limited to 147mph. It could probably do 10 more than that if you could trick the computer...maybe with a speedo pinion change...bigger tires?

I heard the top governed speed was around 167 mph. Maybe someone can figure out how to change the computer. I do not know enough about this car to attempt anything. There are more brilliant automotive minds on this site than mine. My bike was quite easy to figure out.

Read the same thing about the governed limit.

This thread says the V8 is governed to 154mph. Can't recall where I read the 147mph number. The results were from a MotorTrend drive in Germany, with the U.S. spec V8. No one here has confirmed anything over 140mph. Generally, cars are speed limited to the lowest common denominator tire. In the case of the Genesis, the Dunlops are V-rated tires; 149mph. Very few cars are sold with the faster W & Y rated tires, 168mph and 186mph, respectively (the Corvette is delivered with Y rated tires, for example.)

He drives a Tau V8, but wants you to bring yours, pay the fee, so he can get in your car speed it across the hard pack and into the ground- no volunteers? lol

It's an active FAA runway which is probably cleaner than your living room floor. The person bringing the car should do the driving. I have enough to handle with my bike--
