  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We bought a 2013 Genesis Sedan used a couple of months ago and we're still trying to figure it out. I've looked all through the Owner's Manual and cannot find what I'm looking for so I hope someone can advise me. The garage door opener symbols on the rear view mirror do NOT light up. This makes it very difficult to locate in the dark. I can't find anything in the manual about the mirror (and consequently the features immediately below it which are all the openers) - it looks like there's an on and off switch but that doesn't do much. There's a small square light that comes on, but no idea what the point of it is and then there's no lighting whatsoever in order to find the garage door opener at night. No clue if there's a blown fuse or what - seems like a terrible design flaw if these do not light for ease. I appreciate any help.

From what I remember on my '12 is that they do not light up. The little light that you are referencing is indicating that the auto-dimming function is on. The small on/off button should turn that on and off.

They don't light up. You get good at running your fingers across the mirror feeling for the buttons. Auto-dimming? Dash-lights?

Thank you....seems pretty lame that there's such poor lighting considering all of the other features.

I wonder how distracting a light source right at eye level at night would be. I'm not sure I'd want that!

Just slide your thumb from the left side of the mirror across the bottom of the frame until you feel that first button on the left.

I had some felt-type stickers and cut a very small piece and placed under the button - blends in since it's black and it's working fine. Thanks for the input!

Have you had another vehicle that has backlit homelink buttons? I'm really curious because between my Navigator, Genesis and 550i, none are backlit...just something I've never thought about.

My '14 Santa Fe Sport has a whole row of lighted buttons on the rearview mirror. Damn annoying and distracting at night! Be careful what you wish for.
