  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently bought a G70 Genesis, and need tips on maintaining the outside of the vehicle (products/not using car washes/etc.).
I’ve also had trouble with keep the grille and chrome trimming to not look ‘rusted’. Any help is appreciated.

Ceramic coating may help. A foam cannon is well worth it

There are hundreds of YouTube videos on this. Wheels first, iron remover, clay bar, foam cannon, two bucket method, wash mitt, etc. That's how the rest of us learned. Or do what I do and don't drive in the rain

Wheels first?

Wheels first?
They're the dirtiest, so the theory is to wash them and the wells first so you don't splatter brake dust over paint you've already washed.

Subscribe to both the Apex Detail and Pan the Organizer YouTube channels. Both are full of product reviews and how-to videos on what to do.

Things are quite different than they were just 10 years ago. I agree, a ceramic coating is your best bet for protection now (after a thorough washing/decontamination/clay/and paint polish). Both Gyeon and CarPro are very highly respected product lines in the industry and offer a range of products that will help wash/protect your entire vehicle. Most of their products are available on Amazon.

Good luck. It's a rabbit hole...

I always do the wheels last, because they're the dirtiest.

I HIGHLY recommend ceramic coating. I did the entire exterior (paint, glass, wheels) and love. My last two Genesis vehicle ('19 G70 and '22 GV70) were ceramic coated as well. Washing is so easy, and the car always looks better than brand new. I, too, wash the wheels last.

I just re-read your post. Was your G70 new when you bought it recently? And you're seriously having issues with the chrome trim looking "rusted"? My entire G70 is ceramic coated, which I know helps considerable with maintenance, but I've never heard of the trim looking rusted on a new car.
