  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok. Im looking to powdercoat my wheels. I want opinions on the 2 colors. I have varrstoen ES1 wheels btw and the car is titanium gray.

Here is what the wheel looks like currently...

Here is the matte copper...

Here is the shiny copper...

Here is copper with the lip polished...

I voted for the Matte with polished lip, but i am torn between that and the Shiny with polished lip. I think the entire wheel done in copper will be too much. Polished face with copper lip would be interesting, but i would need to see a PS of how that would look.

I wish my car was burgundy or green, instead of gold. I really want to run copper/bronze wheels, but they would not look right on my car...

Matte copper entire wheel gets my vote. Too shiny makes the wheel looks cheap.

I'm assuming they are one piece cast wheels and the bolts are just for show. It will be more difficult to get just the face or lip powdercoated separately as opposed to the whole wheel. The one piece Work wheels I purchased last year had just the lips coated and is cracking. The powder used was the translucent copper from prismatic powders but could have been a bad coat job, I'm not sure.

I am a fan of copper wheels, especially the cognac copper finish from VIP Modular. To get a shiny copper that is realistic looking they would need to be copper plated but because they are one piece cast wheels this is not an option. Feel that matte looks best when it is a brushed matte finish.

My vote would be a two stage, transparent copper over super chrome. Some examples here:http://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/P-5162S/TRANSPARENT-COPPER/

Matte copper entire wheel gets my vote. Too shiny makes the wheel looks cheap.
Funny you think shiny looks cheap, how about these?

That copper with the polished lip tho! Have to have the rivets polished too!
