If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I've parked my 2012 R-Spec for the winter now and come spring will need new rubber. Looking for some help on choosing an amazing summer tire, any input would be appreciated!

Re: Tire Help

I'm in Southern ONT so I don't park my R Spec for the winter. I've switched to Pirelli Cinturato P7's in 245/45/19. They are better for comfort than the OEM Continentals and better in the rain. They have a more aggressive tread pattern so they aren't bad in light snow; however they are slightly noisier too.
In conclusion, just about any new tire will be better than what you have.
P.S. Don't be afraid of moving up in size to the 245 size. You have more selection that way. It's a negligible difference.
As for "amazing summer tire", do you mean best handling/stickiest..... at the expense of wet weather performance? If so, others should chime in.
P.S. Last time I went through Calgary it snowed............. in June!!!!!!!

Re: Tire Help

You're right it can snow here at any time! I have a (don't give me gears) minivan that I dive in the winter so I have the luxury of parking my baby over the months of gravel on the road. I'm looking for a tire that handles well on the dry road, not to worried about the noise too much. When we get crappy weather or tons of rain it stays in the garage. I just want tires that handle and hug the asphalt. I've seen a few treads now that have positive comments on the Pirelli P7's. Handle is want I'm looking for in the tire, tread wear won't be a huge concern with it being off the road for 4-5 months a year. Thanks for th reply, it's nice to get advise before dropping a bunch of money.

Re: Tire Help

I just got a set of the BF Goodrich Comp 2 AS in 245/45R19. They are awesome. They ride reasonably smooth and handle amazingly well.

FYI I've been in the tire industry for about 10 years and have probably driven on 20 different sets of tires. I typically gravitate toward Bridgestone and, if you're looking for summer tires, I would recommend the RE760 Sport for something smooth and sticky. If you want something a bit more long lasting with all-season capabilities, go with the BFG. You won't be disappointed.

Tirerack.com is a great resource too.

Re: Tire Help

i had Toyo T1R on a few of my cars for dedicated summers...they were amazing and even kicked ass in the wet.

i had dunlop fm901s and they were meh and super noisy, also had KUMHO ECSTA MX (KU15) before and they were pretty good and way cheap, but the toyos were best

i have heard amazing things about Michelin's, i had mxv4s on my charger and they were pretty good when warmed up, but not a dedicated summer tire...i know they get alot of good reviews, but i think some of it is based on their popularity as a brand name but i have never tried any of their dedicated summers

Another vote for BF Goodrich

I installed a set of the BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2 A/S Ultra-high Performance (Z-Rated) tires on my Equus and it transformed the car to what it should have been from the factory. Better road feel (not harsh) and stability. They are good in the rain and the noise is slightly higher than the Continental junk tires that came on the car and were worn out after 27,000 miles.

I am very pleased with this purchase! The price from Tire-Rack was right, too. Plus, they included a 2-year road hazard warranty.

For the price and performance, the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 is hard to beat. This tire has good ratings online.

Thanks for posting about the BFGs. I had started a thread asking about these tires with no responses and your post is sealing the deal for me!

You're welcome! Now have about 1500 miles on these tires and love them!

Please post your comments after you've had a chance to put some miles on them.

Will do! I'll be getting my rigid collars installed at the same time they mount the tires.
I'm having this all done at the same dealer Amartz went. I'm really looking forward to the transformation!
