I did not find it difficult. You take the front off, which sounds daunting, but it is actually not that hard. A shop could easily do this job as it is all mechanical. I did it in my driveway.
To take off the front bumper covering, you remove the trim pieces around the engine bay (and you will break some of the plastic fasteners). There are two 10mm bolts holding the top of the cover that you take out. Then remove the fasteners from the front left and right splash shields under the car. Finally, at the
wheel well, there is a 9mm screw and another plastic fastener to remove.
Taking off the cover, first time you do it, it is kind of scary. But you just reach under the
wheel well and grab the "fender" portion where you just took out the 9mm screws and pull it outward and upward. You will hear "unsnapping" sounds and the cover will pull off that side. Make sure you have a cushioning material in front of the car because you will lay the front of the covering on the ground there. Then do the same on the other side and the cover is loose (grill and all as one part). The front kind of snaps to a few pieces under the headlamps.
Before taking the cover completely off, you will need to remove the fog light connector
plugs and the front sensor connector plug. Then you can move the cover away.
The Hyundai Cruise Control Module is now easy to reach on the lower left radiator support held by three 10mm bolts. That removes the bracket. The module is connected to the bracket by four bolts. Remove the old module, install and connect the replacement.
In my case, I verified with Hyundai service that the module was the problem. As you see from the other post, it could be something else.
The car recognized the working module upon start up and I no longer had a trouble light. Test drive, she works!
I ended up getting a used unit for under $300. Most salvage yards seem to have a "list price" now and will stick to around $700+ and of course there are a few that will want way over that. For a new unit Hyundai wants like $4 grand, you can get discounted online for a thousand or so less.
