  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys!

I just bought a new genesis coupe. It is an amazing car. Just wanted to say hi and ask what kind of mods have you guys done to your car. I know I want to get HID lights and and a better audio system eventually.

Hey...

I've done little to my car...I have a 2011 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track I bought new last year...didn't really need much. Non-factory adds include MagnaFlow exhaust (dual outlets on both sides...awesome look), tinted windows, honeycomb grill...the car is white, so the tint really enhanced the look. Factory stereo in mine is great, and it came with HIDs, so no changes needed there.

Fun car...enjoy the ride!

I just purchased a 2013 White Coupe 2.0 R-Spec four days ago. I am really impressed with how fast that car is. I haven't even really pushed it, yet. I am a 44 year old guy. Not into the racing stuff. Just wanted to have something sporty and fun to drive. It will be interesting to read the forum to see what others experience with their Genesis Coupes.

I haven't felt like engine mods are needed with mine, as the V6 in R-Spec trim is pretty quick ;) I also want my warranty and service plan coverage. These cars are pretty well optimized by the factory, so if you get into modding, do your research. There is a pretty rabid 2.0 tuner community found on at least one other site like this one.

Anyway, I've removed the "carbon filter" (an extra escaping fumes filter in the 3.8 cars), leaving in the stock air filter, as it's said to be as good as a K&N, with none of the drawbacks. After learning the hard way with some crappy E10 gas, I run the best gas I can find, a Top-Tier ethanol-free premium. Those two things are good for better mileage, smoother peppiness, and some 20 horses on a good day. Woo-hoo!

Also, on mine, turning off the stability/traction system frees up elusive power lost to those various system reactions. No one seems to know how much power it affects, and I think it's different for the various coupe models and transmissions, but on my car, I'd guess it's easily more than a 25 horse difference, believe it or not :)

So, I'd try the low-hanging fruit before getting into more involved mods.
