  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well the wife and i traded in her 07 Kia MiniVan for a 5.0 ultimate on 22 Dec. and its been in the shop since 24 Dec. We bought one of the last two 5.0 ultimate's in the Oregon/Washington area and had to drive 2 hours to get it. Worth it hopefully.

Kind of disappointed in Hyundai Quality control at the moment, but is the first year of a new model. During the dealer checkout, they couldn't get the XM radio to change stations, the screen would change but the channel would not. it would also keep displaying "low signal" and "busy" regardless of car location. The AM/FM radio worked perfectly fine. We HAVE to have the Xm working since we live in the sticks...lol Plus its a 23 hour drive back to AZ (military).

All their technicians came out and troubleshot it... no luck. so they let us take it for a day while they figured out a repair plan. They called the next day asking us to bring it back on 24 Dec before 0900 so they could call Hyundai tech support and trouble shoot. wouldnt you know it, Tech support was closed on Christmas eve. So a 2 hour drive back up there. While driving up there are got spurious sensor alarms, (blind spot detection, BSD unavailable (for 20mins or so) and AEB) the BSD would alert sometimes when there wasn't even a car near us! Was raining but not that hard. not sure if thats the cause or not. Arrived at dealer, gave them a list of gripes and the picture of the BSD unavailable screen. they gave us a 2015 Sonata sport as a loner... and we haven't seen our Genesis since that horrible day... :)

So what we have heard so far... couldn't find an issue with the AEB or BSD (of course) and they had to order a new radio unit from Hyundai because apparently they are locked to the car once they are installed so you cant just swap on out from one of the other million Genesis' they had on the lot. :(

So here we are trapped waiting for our car and cant drive back home to AZ. Its a awesome car for the one day we have had it! :(

Anyone else have a radio or sensor issues with there new cars? i have found some XM issues but none WRT not being able to change the XM station or not XM data working.

I believe there is a software update for the Audio system to cure problems with the XM Radio cutting out suddenly. I'm not sure if this would be part of the same issue.

yea.. i had seen that one.. but this one is you cant change the channel at all! :) locked on one horrible station.....lol

Itdorn sorry to hear what you are going through. What a nightmare. The first generation radios were garbage in my opinion. The 2015s have not had a lot of problems radio or otherwise.

Hopefully they will replace the radio head unit and your radio problems are solved. Not sure about your sensor issues but I hope they figure that issue for you soon as well. If it makes you feel any better my 2012 had issues when brand new. I was so disappointed in Hyundai. Eventually the issues were fixed and I had a couple of years of trouble free driving. I was satisfied enough that I decided to buy a 2015.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Call Hyundai customer care and ask for a new car.

Got a call today... Radio replaced. Now the 2 hours drive tomorrow morning to pick it up! yea! :D

My BMW does this sometimes and I call Sirius and refresh the signal and that solves the problem...did the tech try this? I would think yes hopefully. If it continues and you have a lot of electrical problems investigate a buyback from Hyundai.

Sorry to hear of the issues you are having with your new ride. Hope it is fixed now. Report back and let us know. I have seen my Blind Spot detector pop up a few times without and car being next to me but it went away so I chalk it up to water or some other debris. It has only happened a couple of times.
