  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This isn't really dealer related, more a transport issue (I think) but I didn't know where else to post it. As soon as I picked up my new car (2012 4.6) I started making small changes to it as I as I always do, decent horns, radar, WeatherTech wind deflectors etc., etc.. One of the first things I always do is bounce the paper filter and use a K&N unit. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the original filter was clogged with paper shreds (from another filter) wood splinters and dried grass. In the filter housing were 4 to 5 cups of the same material, so much that the cold air flap (bottom of housing and activated by intake pressure) could not open more than an inch or two.

I informed the dealer and they said they would add filter inspection to their new car prep as well as inform corporate of the issue. The rat/mouse nest could have been added anywhere along it's journey to the states. Obviously this would affect performance and mileage. You just might want to look into yours and see if there are any surprises.

not to mention chewed on wires that aren't broken yet but after 6 months and there's a problem the dealer would've been like, "Not a warranty issue." then what? crazy.

Something is fishy here... I seriously doubt the truthfulness of this post.

what the h@ll IS dealer prep anyway? Anyone?....is it the real estate (rent) that the car accumulates whilst on the lot? Is it the cost of the fancy Windex to clean the windows? I'm guessing it's and added DNE charge (does not exist) I know on some makes it's a thorough examination, detail (including polishing and removing and paint defects), nutting and bolting, testing for performance and safety- then fixing and documenting any issues. im just saying.............I love- no.. I LOVE my car but the delivery.... a little thin IMHO. I didn't just relieve you of space for a kia rio... just sayin

Why? Critters build nests in all kinds of places, including car engine compartments. I opened my bbq grill, which I use all the time, earlier this year and found a very neatly constucted mouse nest sitting right in the center of the cooking surface. It doesn't take them long to make themselves at home.

I have photos but could not post them. Happy to send them to you. Check it out or don't, you're choice. P.S. We actually did land on the moon!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Most airplanes cover engine inlets & exhaust or any other important areas when the plane may be sitting outside for any length of time. Birds build nests in some odd places. I suppose squirrels, mice or any other critter would love a 2012 Genesis as a home. Everyone loves that new car smell.

In the business, "Dealer Prep" is sometimes refered to as "the $500 car wash."

As noted by other contributors, wildlife can do strange things in a very short span of time. This event is certainly possible.

I flew F/A-18's for 16 years. One day we had a jet (which was flown daily) abort a takeoff when the airspeed was not registering during the takeoff roll. The cause was mud dauber wasps who had plugged the pitot-static tube with mud.

In college I used to go camping in the Smokey Mountains each year with a friend. When we parked the car I would remove the wire from the condensor to the distributor and carry it with me (in case someone tried to "hot wire" my car while we were in the woods). When we returned and popped the hood to reinstall the wire, I found a huge nest of dry grass on the top of the engine block. Had I not popped the hood, that pile of grass could have turned into an engine fire as we drove home.

Wouldn't supprise me. These cars are shipped over here from Korea on a large ROLO ship. They pull into port here where I work and I see them every day. They sit out in a huge lot out in the open for months waiting to go thru prep and customs which is also here. I know there are all kinds of vermint running around here so no, it dosen't supprise me.

What did shock me a bit was the $850 they wanted for driving the car 5 miles down the raod to the dealership. I didn't pay it though. ;)
