If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

so the ins company was judicious in paying me 23,900.00 for my totaled 2009 4.6 w/ tech. the car had 62k miles on her but was in great shape before the accident. that included tax and lic. not bad considering i would have never got that for a trade in or private sell.

now i'm ready to purchase a new car but stuck a little on which way i'm gonna go. last night i even thought up of another option which is to wait for the 15's to come down and drive my truck while i'm waiting. the only problem w/ that is my truck stays hooked up to my boat because it's on the street. no room in my driveway for it so i'll have to find storage .

but after seeing the 15's, i really want to eventually own one of those. really nice cars, just too expensive right now at 54k for the ultimate 5.0. so i was thinking of getting a 14 r spec in the meantime for 38k and then trade it in next year IF the 15's come down. still, i will more than likely take a big hit on the trade in. the other option is to go with a 2011 4.6 with 52k miles for 19,500 and drive that for a year, but again, i'll take a hit with the trade in, but not as bad as the new 14.

i was even looking at a 2012 equus with 18k miles for 37k, but i'm not too fond of the looks of that model.

lots of options, but i think money and savings wise, it's best to drive my truck for a while and wait for the 15's to come down.

I would hold out and wait and buy the 2015 if that is the car you want. No sense in picking up another car for a year and having it depreciate then lose money. I am hoping factory discounts start showing up in August.

i would wait for the year end sales. unless you don't care losing a couple thousand at the time of trade-in

I would definitely not buy the '13 and then trade it - you'll lose more money that way. If you can hold out a bit and just get the '15 that would be best. Alternatively, you can probably get a great deal on a '14, drive it for a few years, and then get the 2nd generation.

BTW, I think that you did really well from the insurance company!

I would not buy the first model year of anything. That's a rule that has served me very well over the years, and I have regretted breaking it 4 out of 5 times. You can get a left over '13 for peanuts, and there are almost no differences between that and a '14. In 2-3 years the bugs will have been worked out of the new car, the prices will be lower (CPO's will also be available), and you'll be at a good spot in it's life to sell the '13 privately. FWIW.

+1. What he said.

I'd store the boat, drive the truck and buy a 2016!

i'm looking for 48k. if i can get the 5.0 ultimate for 48 , i might pull the trigger even though i probably shouldn't .

At least test drive the 15', I wouldn't avoid the option because of the whole new design. Especially since Lotus was brought in to refine the suspension, makes it more of consideration IMO. Plus you can't beat the warranty.

Also, what insurance company do you have? That's some good coverage!

$48K for 5.0 Ultimate with MSRP of $55K? I don't think you are going to see that price anytime soon.

you're right, 48k is a pipe dream, especially with new 13 and 14 models still on the lot. i don't get it though. with the genesis being such exceptional value and warranty, why aren't they moving faster ? 52k was the best price i found.

Not sure I know which ones you are talking about. 2013/2014 or 2015?

Hyundai’s biggest hurdle even with the release of the 1st generation car has been brand perception. It didn’t help that the car was launched without a separate brand support thus making a worthy effort even more difficult. The perception at that time as is today is that brand status and separate brand support is very important in the arena Hyundai has chosen to enter. Brand prestige is foremost in consideration more so than value for a lot of people in the market for a car in this class. Thus the answer could be that.

good point Ernie. ya, Mark, i was refering to the 13 and 14 year models still on the lot. here in so cal, there's even some new 12 's that haven't been sold.

Good question, especially considering they are deeply discounted. I suspect that it hurts somewhat that the 2015's are so radically different styling than previous generation.

If you want a big Sonata with a Fusion grill, get the 15.

hmmm, didn't think of the 15's like that. lol. still like them, especially in black. the nose and wing emblem gives it a kind of Bentley look for me. but it's strange how perceptions on car styles can change with time.
