If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I just bought a brand new Genesis G70 3.3T Sport Prestige. The front bumper cover is warped on the bottom, all the cars on the lot had the same issue, but more importably it looks like the tabs in the engine bay don't line up, nor does the fender line up to the bumper (on the sides of the hood). Honestly, my worry here is that the plastic bumper will scratch the metal fenders (which is what happened on my 2020 Edge ST with <7000 miles on it) from there being no gap between the two.

My driver's side door also seems misaligned (it's a few mm higher than the rear door which is noticeably at the belt line.)

Am I crazy for having Genesis fix these issues? They'll have to replace the front bumper which means repainting it too, they said they send it out to a local body shop since they don't have one. Is it worth the risk?

I love my G70, it's really fast but I'm disappointed with the these two quality issues on a 55k car.

Welcome to post-COVID QC. Ha ha. And yes, the G70 is worse than many, IMO. And you didn't even mention the paint seam right below the front hood line; check it out. It was absolutely awful on the 3.3T SP I had to return, but it's still bad on the replacement too, but it wasn't bad enough to get it repainted. I just removed all the flaking paint, and used touch-up paint to cover the black areas, and since it's hard to see with the hood closed, I can live with that. The bumper mis-alignments are also obvious on my car, but hope they don't turn into chipped paint. I'd definitely wait to see if that happens, as the car would NEVER be the same once repainted. Plus it'd smell like a freaking old car after living on a body shop, plus aftermarket paint chips much worse than factory one, for some reason. Even when done at supposedly great shops. Also the gaps at the rear doors are HUGE, and look ungainly, but that's the way these cars are done. I'm done with Hyundai after this '23 SP and the '22 SF Calligraphy, which could crap out (DCT) at any time, never, or somewhere in-between, but not going to lose over 10 grand now, so will reluctantly keep it, and see what happens. But after 9 Hyundai vehicles, with decreasing quality and increasing reliability and cosmetic issues, it's time to move on after eventually selling these 2 vehicles. I just ask that the G70 turns reliable, so I learned to overlook the many glaring defects I found too. Good luck.

Is it just me or does the doors seem like they need to be slammed a little bit to shut them? Like the first couple weeks of owning the car, everytime i shut any door it wasnt quite enough and would slightly ajar.

Same here on my 23 G70.

Just the rear left needs slamming on my '23, and there's no adjustment, unfortunately. I tried lubing everything, which made closing and opening nicer on all doors, but that door still requires significantly more force to close than the others. The hood is also hard to open, even adjusting the rubber bumpers down, at the minimum height without creating play, but no adjustment possible either. And the car was made in Korea, while my '22 SF Calligraphy built in Alabama, all doors close super nice, and the hood is very easy to open. Go figure.

The G70 is a pretty well made, so maybe for sound proofing?

I was wondering if it had to do a little with the sound proofing causing an above normal cabin air pressure cushion when the door is being shut

Looks like it to me!

These are the issues I have. My biggest complaint with the bumper is by far picture #1, I worry that this will scratch the paint I the metal since there is no gap. As you can see on the passenger side there should be a small but even gap to allowed for flex between the parts. After that the Drivers side doors bug the crap out of me being misaligned like that. Now that I've seen it I see it all the time, even in the mirror...

Can the dealer realign these things or will they have to send it to a body shop. I'd be willing to deal with the underlip warping if it meant the car wouldn't go to a body shop with 180 miles on the odometer...

I don't want a repainted bumper.

Warped bumper cover (what I saw before buying it), currently least of my concerns

Tabs loose on engine bay cover (can't be snapped in due to misalignment)

Drivers side doors misaligned (not sure which one front or back).

It looks like the bumper was taken off at one point and they didn't put it back on quite right or something? Maybe that 10mm bolt that holds the bumper in above the headlight is too tight?

Do you think that the dealer could realign these parts? I was thinking either they took the bumper off or it got snagged on the trailer when they unloaded it. Every single G70 on thr lot (4) had the same underside warping.

I bought the car 2 weeks ago and it only has 180 miles on it.

Here's another angle it doesn't sit flush. 20230324_102823.webp

Just checked my '23, and it basically looks identical to yours, including the lower 'lip', which doesn't have a single scratch, so it came like that from the factory. I immediately noticed that too, but already came to terms with even crappier post-COVID quality, so didn't complain. If you expect anything close to perfection now, you better be willing to walk. Ha ha. Also the rear fender/bumper seam is touching, especially on the right side. And my driver's door is like 1mm difference than the rear one, which is not noticeable unless you look for it. So everything is 'normal' with your car. If you don't want to go crazy, I'd suggest learning to live with that, just like I (and surely many others) do:p. And no, no chipping anywhere so far, but only 4,800 miles now. Dealer wouldn't do anything unless there's chipping anyway, so I wouldn't waste my time with that kind of thing unless it actually happens. Hope this helps.

Well the dealer already agreed to replace the bumper since it's warped and we saw it before i bought it and made them do a "we owe". But I'd probably rather not get an after market paint job if I don't have to. I noticed another defect on the front left wheel too... like wtf. Is that going to get worse? 20230324_175044.webp
This is what the other wheels look like 20230324_175053.webp
Gotta say, I'm disappointed in the QC. I owned 4 dodges and they were pretty crappy quality but I didn't pay 52k for them. Aside from the same panel gap issue on my Edge ST (which did cause chipping) I had no issues.

It's a good thing I like the driving characteristics of the car or I'd be a lot more depressed about it than I already am.

I don't see anything wrong with either wheel. You need to take a cleaner picture, and/or put an arrow where the defect is. Finally, no freaking way I'd change my bumper. You know it's going to be THE SAME as now. Plus dealer would send your car to a freaking body-shop, they'd probably break tabs somewhere, and you wouldn't know. Scratch your interior, and/or cause other issues, all for something stupid that will probably be there on a new bumper anyway. Plus any aftermarket paint job is crap compared to factory (I learned that the hard way), which chips super easily by comparison. Learn how to pick your fights. Ha ha. But if you do it, at least I warned you before:p. Glad I wised up with age (now 61). Ha ha. I don't let small crap bother me anymore. Good luck.

That's not dirt. The finishe on the wheel is gone. It should be black

Oh, that. They weren't painted right. Mine are slightly better than yours, but also not painted all the way inside either. But not really visible, unless looking for that. Crappy Korean QC, since they're made there. I was appalled by the bumper to hood seam job, which seemed like it was resprayed, but I fixed it myself, and just bought the car. Other vehicles I considered had similarly appalling QC issues, so just hoping the G70 turns reliable. We'll see. Ha ha. Not a good time to be anal. If it really bothers you, you could buy matching spray paint, and do it yourself... because nobody is going to do it right either, and your troubles would never end. Ha ha. And yes, it's sad we have to put up with that crap, but it is what it is. Good luck.

I love it! “Not a good time to be anal”. Coming from you, nah!!

Compared to some dudes here and other forums, I'm WAY down the list man. I'd probably rate myself a 5 out of 10. Haven't waxed my 8-month-old G70 yet, and just washed it once so far (need to wash it again, since it got rained on). So no, I'm not that anal. But I'm very anal on maintenance (and do it myself), and normal anal on the inside, which I like to keep super clean and conditioned, but still eat inside if needed (like on trips); just clean very well afterwards, which is minimal, since wife is pretty good at packing stuff that makes little to no mess. And we only drink water (from our water bottles), so very little risk of a fluid mess. And of course I'm not the kind who don't use vehicles because it's raining. Don't like getting them messed up, since I have to hand wash them (at a carwash) myself, but fortunately, it rarely rains here in the desert southwest.
