  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys, newbie here. I just got my 2015 3.8 L RWD Genesis on Monday night and have been super happy with the car. Today I noticed I had a small crack in my windshield and I didn't know how I got it as I didn't notice any big rocks hitting the windshield at all. When I got home I looked at the rest of the windshield and noticed tons of small chips all throughout the windshield. I haven't even noticed many small rocks hitting my car and I've never had this issue on any of my other cars.

Is this a common problem on Genesis' cars? Have others had this issue? Or could I have a defective glass or what?

I am not, I am in Arizona actually. I've had lots of windshields crack here from large rocks but I haven't had any large rocks hit my Genesis' windshield and what is alarming to me is the large amount of small chips all throughout the windshield.

I thought maybe you were from a state with a lot of road debris picked up by test drives.

In any event, your dealership should have picked that up when prepping for delivery, there's no excuse if they actually cleaned the windows in/out.

My brother lives in AZ Phoenix, he had to fix cracks on his honda 4 times last year...I know you live in AZ too but his last incident seems to be similar to how you described your windshield. You should post a picture because I'm not sure what you mean by a ton.

How many miles were on the odometer when you purchased it?

I've got the same thing but can never get it to capture on the camera. It's almost like some kind of coating has peeled off. When driving around sunset I can barely see out the windshield. So far nobody has seen anything like it and my car came from Los Angeles..

I've been pushing myself to save up and get the whole thing replaces but it does end up quiet costly..

Just went out and inspected my windshield with a loop and have zero cracks.

Most likely this was present when you picked the car up, and you are just noticing it under certain lighting conditions now. (Unless you really did get hit by rocks since getting the vehicle)

I'd report this to your dealer pronto. Make sure to mention that you only see it in certain conditions, so it was not discovered at delivery.

When I got my '13 Azera, there was a scratch in the lower part of the windshield that was only visible when driving into sunlight. The dealer offered to have their glass guy polish the scratch, and replace the glass if necessary. I actually never bothered messing with it since it was so low on the windshield.

This isn't a bad idea. I'm probably going to do this.

My car had 100 miles when I picked it up. I wonder if it got those before I got it or since I've been driving it. Roads in Phoenix do seem to pick up a lot of debris.
