  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everybody :)

My 2005 Toyota Avalon was totalled 3 weeks ago when I was rear ended. I really loved that car and was planning to buy a new Avalon Limited, but the 2012 being exactly the same seemed pretty boring to me and I could not see myself being happy paying that much for basically the same car I had.

So yesterday I test drove the Genesis and fell in love. Spent the evening emailing dealerships for OTD pricing and went today to look at colors. Ended up purchasing a Titanium Gray Metallic/Saddle interior 3.8 Sedan with performance and technology packages. My husband is happy because of its high score from consumer reports. I am happy because the car is gorgeous and has so many wonderful features. Its a pleasure to drive.

Here is a picture...

Glad to be a part of this group! I also have a 2003 Sonic Blue Mustang GT which is where I get my user name..Jens GT.

Welcome, I have over 67,000 miles on my 2011 4.6V8 Genesis and its a terrific car. Happy motoring.

Welcome!

I too am from Md and have the same exterior color, but with black interior and a 4.6.

What part of Md are you in?

I just got my new 2012 genesis sedan after trading in my old Mercedes The handling on the genesis is quite different and the car seems to have a very soft suspension so I feel much more of the road bumps I had the tire pressure reduced to the recommended levels but still feel the road .any suggestions? When is the first servicing for the car?

Thanks everybody!

Barry Feder - You should start your own thread in a different section for your issue. I don't think you'll get much help here. I too notice that the ride is more bumpy than my Toyota Avalon was, but the car makes up for it in so many ways. You had an option of test driving the car before buying...did you take advantage of that?

Welcome! Just hoping you didn't purchase from Ali Pohanka and his 40 Thieves.

Nope, I don't think I dealt with them at all. I sent out e-mails to all the dealers within a certain distance who had the cars we were interested in looking at...which at first were red, blue, titanium, champagne. Stopped by Alexandria Hyundai...boy would I have hated to test drive there...glad we did in Dover, DE when we were there Saturday. They had blue and champagne. Blue I did not like...Champagne was ok. They had made the best deal with me.

I left and drove to Fairfax. Seeing the titanium for the second time I knew that was it. My husband liked the Cabernet red but his Rav4 is red and I did not want 2 red cars. I loved the Titanium so it was up to whether I liked saddle interior, because I typically am a beige interior person. I did like it, thought it was different...and I like how it won't show blemishes as obviously as beige will...without having to be black lol. Of course I hope we don't have to worry about that at least for a while.

I only haggled with the sales guy Joe for about 20 minutes before we got where we wanted to be. What I liked most is that he did not pull out that stupid sheet of paper and start asking me what I wanted my monthly payments to be and how much did I have down and all that stuff you know is going to lead you nowhere. I was in and out in 3 hours...and I think it would have been quicker but the place was mobbed so there was a lot of sitting waiting for the finance guy to be available once the deal was done. The finance guy had to do the whole warranty thing but never bothered us with paint protection or lojack...which was nice. Having good credit always helps the process so there was no back and forth on the rate, just signing of papers and they go over the car with you which takes 20 minutes.

Overall I will say I was very happy with my Fairfax Hyundai experience.

Milford, De Toyota though....can kiss my rear end.

Congratulations! Welcome to the forums... and enjoy your beautiful new ride!

Good luck keeping it away from your husband though.

;)

Germantown, cool...I grew up in Derwood, so I am up this way a lot.

I do plan to tint...any recommendations? I need to get tint on my Mustang also since I had to pull it off to get through MD Inspection. I have used Winners in the past but their prices have skyrocketed.

Yes I want the damn wings lol...I tried to get them to put them on the car for free yesterday but they did not have any in stock. I am trying to find out how much the dealer charges for them...most likely I will have to buy them elsewhere because dealers charge too much for most everything.

My husband loves the car but since he commutes into DC every day he bought the Rav4 which is pretty skinny, he can sit high up, and it has a good turn radius he says...lol...he never enjoyed driving the Avalon to work much so he probably won't take this one. I am sure he will drive it from time to time but he knows for at least the next 6 months I will be completely anal about it and he knows better than to have the first door ding be on his watch LOL.

My tint shop is in Gaithersburg, they've done 3 cars for me over the last 4 years, I'll get the name for you if you don't mind the drive. As for the wings, Fitzgerald Hyundai offered to install everything except for the steering wheel wings for $300.

I bought all the wings, including for the steering wheel stick-on on Ebay for $112 and installed them myself, I can forward the auction links if you're interested.

Sure you can give me the tint shot info...Gaithersburg is not bad...I am up in this area a lot.

I will take the link also...Do you guys do the wings just on the trunk lod or on the hood also? I don't have a dremel or anything I see people needed to install the wings because they had posts on the back? I am a little scared to mess the car up lol. The wheel wings are no problem thats easy pop in pop out.

How does the steering wheel emblem come off?

Thanks!! Airpark road is like 5 minutes from my parents...I will check it out.

I just realized i said the performance and technology packages...meant to say premium and technology. doh.

:welcome: from Middletown, Md (Frederick County)

Congratulations on your purchase!!

Welcome to the form and Genesis club. :welcome:
My wife was also the deciding factor when we purchased our Genesis. After an almost year search of high end European and Asian cars and endless test drives, I spotted a Genesis on the road. Found a dealer and we took an extended test drive.
My wife look at me and said this is the car I want and we are not going home without it.
Soooooooo here’s our genesis.:D

PS: Used to go to the track at Bowie when I lived in Jersey

Awesome! Yep the second I sat in the Genesis I knew...I really wanted it.

Yeah I used to take my Mustang down to Capitol raceway. I used to drive from Gaithersburg and sit in traffic which was a nightmare to go there. Now I live right down the street...I just recently bought the Mustang back...and I have not been once. lol.
