  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Everyone,

I am the second owner of a 2014 Genesis 5.0 R-spec Sedan and I have to say I am totally loving this car. I traded in my 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo in order to get the R-spec and although I had no issues with the Veloster, I now can see why Genesis owners have big smiles. I do want to make a comment though. While I was a Veloster owner, the forum and Facebook groups I was part of had alot of information on performance upgrades and ways to squeeze out as much horsepower as you can from the turbo 4 cylinder. I spent 4 years upgrading my Veloster. Rims, tires, Cross drilled rotors all around, Magnaflow exhaust, Lowering springs, Cold air intake, custom grille, etc.........But the more I drive this R-spec, the less I want to change anything on it. I mean, 429hp stock?? 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds?? 19" stock rims and its completely loaded with every option that was available at that time. Not to mention that it successfully competes with cars almost 3 times its price!!!! This is the first time I have been completely satisfied with a car in its factory form and I've owned a lot of vehicles in my time. Maybe its just the honeymoon stage and once I get past it, the performance upgrade bug will bite me once again. But until then, I am going to enjoy this car the way it is.....

My Two Cents =)

Dave

Congrats on your new ride. We'd love to see some pics.

I personally agree these cars do not need to be modded. They are a fine balance of comfort & performance. If a street rocket is what you want, that's what you should buy.

Congrats! get some wider wheels on it, those 19x9 235/ are a joke. Car needs more traction!

Just look at the 0-60 times on them. When we were teenagers you'd have to do a lot of mods or buy a Corvette to get the times we have available at the push of a pedal. Takes a lot of money to shave off another second. Damned good performance for a big and comfy sedan.

Welcome, Dave! The R-spec is a great car and as you know, one can get fantastic value on them used. :welcome:

Recommend you consider an extended warranty before your 5/60 runs out. All the S-class toys we have on our cars cost S-class money to fix out of warranty.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me in. I bought the car at Off Lease Only here in Florida for $20k. It only had 31k miles on it. Considering the car was almost $50k brand new I think I got a great deal =)

Thanks and your right. Wider rear tires couldn't hurt LOL

When I bought the car at Off Lease Only I purchased an extended warranty that covers it up to 100k miles.
