  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings all... Just picked up new dark blue premium plus package Genesis 3 days ago. Lovin' life so far. Many more details later BUT... one quick question. I finally broke the code on pairing cell phone for hands free operation. I don't have the technology package, i.e. no NAV system. Do I have to have NAV in order for caller I.D. to come up on the screen? Seems that 4K is a little steep for caller I.D. Kind of figured I.D. would show up on the upper half (stereo) of the display. Thus far, the car is everything (in a good way) I anticipated it to be.

Thanks... I'll try to post some pics later. I've been nothing short of amused by reading anything and everything I can about the Genesis prior to buying. 'To each their own' as it's said. I personally think the car is stunning in appearance. This was only part of my criteria in the decision. Seems like lots of folks don't care for the grill. It's been said that a camel was actually a race horse designed by a committee. Suffice it to say I'm glad Hyundai didn't solicit the opinions of the consumer with regard to the aesthetics of the Genesis. I think it would look like Jed Clampets family vehicle... (for you youngsters, that's from the Beverly Hillbilly's in the last century.) Samstone

Congrats and many happy miles!! What color interior? Did you happen to see a black/brown combo?

Congrats! I'm glad to hear you seem to be as happy with your Genesis as I am with mine. Now I have someone to share my enthusiasm with that can actually relate to what I'm saying! ;)

As for the grill, the wheels, and other elements of the design which have received criticism, they are all best appreciated in person. The car just looks so much better in the flesh IMO.

How do you find the seat comfort/support? I've found that for me I have to have the lumbar support fully deflated in order to avoid sliding around in the seat on winding roads.

Finding seats to very comfortable. I keep lumbar adjustment all the way back as well. Tried to post some pics but couldn't break the code using the attachment paper clip. Agreed on the seeing the car up close and personal. Anything on the web or brochures don't do it justice. To the nay sayers out there... don't knock it 'til you've tried it. This is one hell of an automobile! I am not a fan of any particular brand. While I realize it's a bit early to tell, it appears that they may just have a winner. Samstone

I agree.... I test drove the base model today (it's what was available when I arrived) and I walked away very impressed. The car does look better in person. I found the seats to be very comfortable. I'm 6'5" and there was enough room in the back. The seats are thick but not hard. Enough leg/thigh support, which is by biggest gripe with other cars this size that lack in this. I, OTOH, was pleased with the 4 way power lumbar. I think the seats could use alittle more bolsters for support, but Hyundai has done a good job with the Genesis.

Brief feedback:

Tap the gas pedal and it's ready to take off. I did some emergency brake testing and there was minimal fade with hardly any noticeable nose dive. Minimal body roll (at least when I took it on some tight winding roads). I'm looking forward to the V8. I think I found my next car.

The only thing I didn't like was in Shiftronic mode (or whatever they call it), it has a stupid proof safety, where once it reaches about 5500rpms, the computer will shift gears for you. - Maybe a tuning can fix this to let it reach redline giving you a chance to shift yourself?

Oh... welcome aboard :)

On the Hyundai website, it indicates the following feature as standard for both V6 and V8: "Bluetooth® hands-free phone system"

It indicateds the following feature as an option for both V6 and V8: "Bluetooth® hands-free phone system with audio integration and display"

I assume that means that it is part of the technology package.

Any deals to be had, or were you stuck with MSRP? What part of the country are you in? Did you look at the current lease plan and/or 0% financing. They just started advertising the 0% deal here in FL this weekend.

What's redline?

No, unfortunately no deals. I paid sticker. I wasn't happy about that but given what you're getting, I don't think it's that bad of a price. Frankly, I'm surprised this car is stickered under 40K. Samstone
