  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Hyundai recall #201 (ABS)

... Hyundai dealer 3 miles from the house says they do not do service work on Genesis..even my year as a 16. They do not have a certified Genesis tech in house. So I have to drive about 15 miles away to another Hyundai dealer that has a Genesis tech. Could be worse I suppose. Will post again when all work is done
My car is a Hyundai because it is a 2016 and there is a dealer 1 mile from my house but I wonder how many Genesis they see. The nearest Genesis dealer is 380 miles from my house!

Last time I went to the Hyundai dealer, they called me 10 minutes after I left to tell me they forget to torque my wheel bolts. That earned a lot of maintenance credibility.

When this recall 1st happened, I called and they told me to come in they had the part. The answer was so quick I insisted they double check and it turns out they didn't have the part, which I count as a lie.

There was also an incident where a guy was on Facebook saying some non-political crappy things. All I did was hover over his picture and say I wonder what your boss would think of you saying that and revealed that he worked at the local Hyundai dealership. Turns out he is the sales manager and he got pissed at me for pointing out where he worked right before deleting his Facebook profile and someone I know called the owner of the dealership and reported what he said. Do you think he still remembers me 6 months later?

My daughter lives about 400 miles away and there are a couple of Genesis dealers there and we're thinking of going in a month or 2. Maybe I'll see if they can do it there

I bet he does. Did he say anything about the dealer or Hyundai?

I would agree with you up to the time they issued a recall. Now that a recall is issued I see no reason it would not be replaced at no charge to the customer. Only exception would be non-recalled models.
I am surprised that no one has posted definitively what the replacement fuse rating is, but maybe no one has actually gone in to have the work done (and who is in the Genesis Owners Forum). I received a call from the local Hyundai dealer who wanted me to make an appointment for the fuse change! I know, from experience, that this turns into a minimum of a 1 hour wait - most likely 2 hours - so my strategy was to simply pull up at the service dept and ask them to replace the fuse immediately. I don't want to drive 1/2 hour each way plus the delay, if I can simply replace the fuse myself UNTIL I go to the dealer for something more substantial. Meanwhile, I can easily replace the fuse myself, if I can find out what it is for certain.
Is this fuse simply a standard automotive fuse of a lower current rating than the 40 amp, or is it something special, like a slow-blow, and is it 25 amp? Anyone?

I had mentioned it after hovering over his profile. I also noticed it said "school of auto dealers dealers" something, and asked if that meant he was a double dealer. All of it was in response to a newspaper article about moving homeless people away from one area to another area he didn't like it because it was too close to his home. I did a county search of real estate records and he doesn't own a home, but his girlfriend does. Her father is a real estate developer. My comment about where he worked allowed someone I see at local football games to email his boss at the dealership about the crappy things he was saying to others on Facebook, and that caused him to lash out more on FB. He said a 3 lame things to me and I said "3 attempts to burn me and you still failed!" which pissed him off. By the end of the evening he deleted his account. I think after his boss was emailed, the boss saw the conversations and called him up and said to delete the account.

So that free speech thing is not so good?

As a business person, I would think it would be ludicrous to think any business would allow any employee to put the good will of the business in jeopardy. But I also wonder if their mechanics are trained well enough to do any more than basic maintenance on my car.

If he is posting for the business or somehow bringing that into it, yes. If he is just a private citizen expressing his views, who cares?

My views on politics, or, any of the hot topics are none of my employer's business as long as I don't interfere with it and do my job. For someone to oppose his views, right or wrong, and seek out his employer is a low class move. Just has he can express his opinion, you can express yours in the same venue and can have a debate if you care to.

You say he is putting the good will of the company in jeopardy. Others that agree with him may flock to the dealer to buy cars from him. He may have his best year ever. Any publicity is good publicity.

Have an appointment for 1:00 tomorrow; I’ll post an update when I’m back home.

Got mine done May 31.Was @ Dealer for 2 hours including N/C hand car wash. Replacement fuse 11D054RO 0.2 M/H Part 91940 B1001 QQH REPAIR KIT -MULTI FUSE.

guess i better give mine a call

My recall repair took a bit longer....day and a half; as per the receipt:

Perform recall campaign 00D119 - part# 58730B1010QQH - RR Brake tube kit
Perform recall campaign 11D054 - part# 91940B1001QQH - Repair kit-multi fuse - ABS fuses

They had to drop the dual exhaust assembly from cat back to carry out the brake tube work - as usual, murphy showed up and they broke a couple of exhaust studs but all good now;

I also had them check my battery and electrical system as I was having some slow starts lately and was concerned as the car has the original battery (over 6 years old); everything in the system cam back as good except battery was low; I decided to replace given it's age; they ordered it and it will be $550 Cdn taxes in installed; I checked around and these H9 AGM batteries are pricey and dealer is in low end of the prices I saw;

Anyway, car is working great otherwise....still loving it... :)

OMG! Please tell me you didn't let the dealer replace the battery. You can get replacements from most parts stores for $199.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Yes, better prices in USA but here in Canada I have looked and multiple quotes are all above $400 Cdn dollars; this dealer has looked after me pretty well and I'm happy with their service.

One quote that was even higher than dealer was Napa Canada for $610 -

NAPA The Legend Premium AGM Battery BCI No. 95R 950 A Glass Mat

Advance Auto Parts sell Diehard brand H9 950CC Platinum batteries for $220. I just bought one a month ago for my 2015 5.0 Genesis. The dealer prices are excessive and unnecessary priced for a replacement H9 AGM battery. So do not spend $550 on the OEM battery unless you just want to have a Hyundai brand battery.

I think that I paid a similar price for my battery @ Auto Zone... They even gave a cart to haul it in & out with.... It was so big, the counter help thought it was a marine battery.

Unreal!

You Americans don't seem to know how difficult the supply of
AGM batteries is in Canada. No competition means EXPENSIVE prices . No Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone,PEP Boys here & even Rock Auto won't ship to Canada(n)!

I live in Calgary & I'm hoping we can drive to Spokane this summer if the border ever opens & get an AGM there. No warranty but my battery is now 6 years old (car built in Aug 2015) & I have no idea how long the original AGM will last. Don't really want to be forced to pay what jimbrown618 paid.

Pep Boys has the longest warranty (4 years) and will price match other stores. Minus any discounts or sales, $199 is the going rate.
