If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all!

So I just purchased a new 2009 V6Tech White!!! Very excited. Going to be getting some winters and badges to go with it :P

I got the car at 45550 O.T.R. with a free Trunk Tray. Btw this is a canadian car.

hope it was a good deal. It was the best I could get :P

Cheers,

Congratulations on your purchase:welcome:
I paid about the same price for my car in October 2008 so that seems about right. Dealers aren't as flexible on price here as in the USA due to a much lower number of available cars to choose from.

Thanks guys!

Do you guys know what size of tires will be good for winter? I will be getting 17s. I was told the narrower the tires the better for winter traction and digging into the snow. I am curious, I know that 225/50R-17 Tires will work, but will 215/55R-17 Tires works? Or they both work?

Also, Blizzaks or X-Ice Xi2 .. Go!

Thanks once again!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Narrower tires are better for clearing snow, slush and water from under the tread...avoiding planing on top. Of course, dry performance won't be quite as good.

Hyundai puts 225/55 17's (26.74"dia.) and 235/50 18's (27.25"dia.), so 215/60's will work (27.16"dia.)...and be a bit less expensive. I bought General Altimax Artics. They get good reviews and have performed well on our Avalon this winter. We run Blizzaks on our Acura and they are fantastic. Michelin X-Ice Xi2 also get excellent reviews.

Thanks for the info guys!

I think I will be getting the 225/55R-17 X-ice Xi2s. What do you guys think?

The Michelin X-Ice are good tires. I had them on a previous vehicle and was very happy with them.

Ditto. In the testing I've seen, they seem to come out on top, overall. Some tires might be slightly better on deep snow, but the X-Ice's seem to rate the highest on overall performance (handling, road noise) on snow, ice and dry roads. Heck, I just changed my order at TireRack to Michelin XIce Xi2's from General Altimax Artics. I like the Artic's on our Avalon but decided on trying the Michelins for the better handling and lower tire noise that seems to be reported from them. I did stick with the 215/60's though. They didn't have the 225/55's in stock anyway.

Hey Oppiee this is my first post as I don't own a genny as of yet. I'm in the Brampton area and pricing out a 2010 V6 Premium Package and I was curious about where you got yours from - would you reccomend them?
So far the best price I can get is $2g off of MSRP - If I could get any help on pricing stuff out (tags/winters/typical mods) that'd be great. The info on this site is so informative but not Toronto specific. I should be making a decision soon between the Santa Fe or Genesis. Hopefully it'll swing my way but the choice is not only mine.

Hello to all and hopefully soon I can be a "real" member.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

$2000 off of MSRP is pretty good from my experience with Canadian dealers.
Go with the Genesis. The Santa Fe is nice (although hardly comparable) but nowhere near as well finished or as nice to drive as the Genesis.

Definitely plan on getting a set of winter tires & rims as the OEM tires are not great in ice & snow.

Hey hows it going. I can recommend you a few dealers that I have had pretty good experience with. I bought mine at hyundai of mississauga. When I purchased mine (Dec 31) I also negotiated at don valley north hyundai and richmond hill hyundai.

Hyundai of mississauga is pretty much a no BS place at least from what I got. Richmond hill hyundai was very knowledgeable. Don Valley North gave me the best deal actually (45450 OTR), but their last genesis V6 tech had 255 km on it.

if you are in for a Genesis, and want the best deal. I would try to go for a 2009. However if you are very keen on the 2010 then maybe i suggest you wait a little. Usually the best time to get the best deal is end of year.

For some negotiating power I suggest using car cost canada for the invoice price and make use of carbuyingtips.com (tells you how to negotiate and provides a spreadsheet). I am certain if you are willing to go to a few different dealers and negotiate you can get much more than 2000 off MSRP (in my opinion 2000 off msrp is not even a deal). I believe if my calculations were correct I got over 6000 off MSRP.

Let me know if you have any questions, id love to help.
I can't really comment on the Santa Fe because i didn't do much research on it.

Cheers,

do you think you can get the best deal if you purchase on the last day of the month?

It is possible. Generally it is suggested that end of the year people get most savings. From what I know at the end of the month they need to meet quotas as well. Usually if you want the best deal you need to put in the work. Find dealers with the cars you want and go negotiate using the best deals each provides as baselines for negotiation as well. It works.

Thanks everyone for your help.
We've decided to go with an SUV. That being said a very good friend of mine insisted I go see the Ford Edge. After doing so - I must say I am very impressed as it does have a key feature I was missing from the Santa Fe, memory seats. The Microsoft Sync is unparalled in the market and the Nav is pretty awesome as well. Safe to say I am torn!
I am very much a techy guy (as you can tell) so these things are what move me - and these features were all availible in the Gen. Since the Gen is off the grid - I've got my eye on the Edge.
If anyone else is as "techy" as me - google "My Ford" - it's their new Microsoft Sync system offered in 2011 models and it seems incredible.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again!

Both Hyundai and Kia are working with Microsoft to develop Sync-like systems (Sync is a trademarked term specific to Ford's implementation).

Great links. Ford announced recently that they were moving away from their partnership with Microsoft to work more closely with Apple which they said was more in tune with their customers...ie. Ipod vs. Zune. At CES2010 Ford talked about releasing APIs for their system so that developers could write applications like in-car Twitter.

Finally! The white 2006 Genesis V6 Tech has been picked up! Everything went well, everything works. The only problem i found after i left the dealer i found a small piece of trim missing (dealer said they will replace).

The piece of trim is a black plastic cover that is direct adjacent to the chrome handle bar (open door) and lock on the inside of the right driver door.

Do you know what I am talking about?

It is in another shop now for tinting, sound shield, paint protection, fabric protection, and rust proofing. Getting it for good tomorrow.

Very excited. What a nice looking car it is. Will have pictures ASAP

Modern cars don't rust. Worse, improper "rust proofing" can cause issues...amongst them....rust...and your perforation warranty will be invalidated. Fabric protection isn't very much help with leather, which is already treated (but on cloth it can help.) What the heck is "sound shield?" The Genesis is already a very quiet car.
