New R-Spec owner

Been a lurker for the past few weeks while researching the Genesis and Audi S4. Ended up going with the '13 R-Spec in Black, and love it.

Already ordered LEDs for the 'analog' bulbs, and dealer has ordered the Genesis badges all the way around.

A few problems already though. I do not have a CD Changer as spec'ed, dealer confirmed. And, the Nav Screen will not come on if the car has been shut down less than 5 minutes before restart. Frustrating as the car only has 400 miles and already needs 1/2 day in the shop to diagnose, plus more once parts are in.

I do have a question about the ECO reward points.... What are they and when will my 'ranking' show up?

No cd/dvd player changer? It is part of the dash and DIS system and I don't see how it was not installed in the dash and no one noticed. How did the dealer explain that you have no dvd/cd player?

I have a single disc, not the 6 disc as described in the brochure and online.

Correct. Confirmed by service advisor and a mechanic. They will need to pull the unit and call Hyundai with VIN and s/n's.

So you don't get messages on DIS screen as to the loaded cd and spots that are empty? This is one of the strangest things I have heard of regarding a new car.

That is crazy! By chance have you looked under the hood to make sure there is a 5.0 in there?!

HA! 5.0 is confirmed, visually and by foot.

He is correct, I also have a 13 R-Spec, and do not have a 6 disc head unit. One disc at a time. Not a huge issue as I mostly use XM or iPod. I liked having DVDs loaded in my last Tech Pkg. Oh well.

Okay, so its not just me. That is somewhat good news. I still must argue that it is in the 2013 brochure and listed on the web as the changer. We will see where this ends up...

Yes, it is in the product info on Hyundai's web site. It states that the 2013 R-Spec includes everything in the 3.8 tech pkg. plus ..... and the 3.8 tech pkg includes a 6 disc changer. Somebody's got some explaining to do. You know if buyers of 2013 R-specs don't have 6 disc changers then Hyundai owes some big money to those buyers or get a 6 disc changer installed. Hyundai e-brochure info states it has a 6 disc dvd changer, but on the Hyundai site build and price section, the specifications do not show a 6 disc dvd changer for the 2013 year. Seems there may be a screw up on the 2013 information.

This isn't the first time Hyundai has pulled this. In the sales brochure, it clearly states that my 2012 5.0 non R-Spec was equipped with Bluetooth streaming. We all know that isn't true either!

Do we see a trend here? I call shenanigans!

So.. I looked at the window sticker and it says '.....with CD/DVD PLAYER'. So do I push the issue or am I stuck living with it? I honostly bought the car after scrutinizing the brochures of this and the Audi. Kind of upsetting, obviously not a deal breaker but was a consideration.

LEDs on the way are all four turns, LP and Trunk, DRLs and Fogs.

I don't know if i have a later 2013 brochure, but my just says "528-Watt Lexicon 7.1 Discrete Surround Sound premium audio system with 17 speakers"...

On my 2012 window sticker is says the same thing but with w/6disc DVD changer...

I looked in several places in the brochure and it says nothing about a DVD except a DVD navigation system with multimedia controller and DIS...

In typical lawyer-speak, it also says in the fine print at the bottom of page 18: "While the information contained in this brochure was correct at the time of printing, specifications and equipment can change."

I surmise this would be Hyundai's official response if one were to push the issue.

Yep. It's a single DVD. My salesman mailed me a new "corrected" window sticker to reflect that

Well not having a dvd/cd changer in 2013 is a "little detail" that did not get mentioned anywhere in articles that I can find about the 2013 model.
