  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Glad I came across this forum so much info. I ordered a Black Ultimate with Ivory last week and the dealer didn't have one in stock so I had to wait for him to get it.... In the meantime looking at pics and owning a black car in the past I changed my mind. I decided on Empire State Gray with the Ivory. When I told my dealer he was annoyed but said he would try to locate one for me.... Well he said he couldn't locate one and he had the black one.... Long story short I went to the dealer and looked at the black and just couldn't do it so I asked him to locate a Parisian Gray with Ivory for me and he was able to. Thank god!!!! So I will be getting it tomorrow or Tues. I already ordered the rear wing emblem as well as the fog lights off ebay. I can't wait to have everything done. I'm going to debadge and add the rear wings, tint the windows and add the fog lamps. I'm coming from 2 back to back Mercedes E350 leases 2009 and 2012. Both of those cars had the fog lights on in the day so I want my fog lights to be on all the time on my new Genny. Can I just wire the new fogs to a spot in the fuse box that powers up when the car is turned on? Thanks in advance on any advice.

Welcome to the forum. Post up some pics of your new ride after you pick it up.

Regarding the Fog Lights. Per the manual they consume major amounts of power and clearly state to only use them when you need to see. Read below...

Yes, that is in regards to the engine being off. I will wire mine to an accessory fuse that is only powered when the vehicle is running. Just think if you added an amp to any car how much more current it would draw over any type of light.... I don't think it will be a problem while the car is running. Thanks for your input and I will keep everyone posted when I get everything done and running.

In many states, full on fogs are illegal. Inspection fail. What's the story in your state?

I'm in NY and my current car is a Benz E350 and my fogs are on all the time.

Depends on how you interpret the warning notice. The other issue I would be concerned about is if this would void and warranty.

I'm too excited to sleep... My car will be ready for pick up @ 11:30am!!!! Can't wait!!!!

If you are going to use additional lighting then I suggest wiring it in using a relay switch that uses low amps and power straight from battery. This would be less likely to overload a circuit.

Thanks! A relay would be used to switch them on when power is detected from another power source ie. headlights or DTRL. I am fine with them being on whenever the car is running. I will ask my mechanic what he thinks the best option is. My plan is to have them on their own circuit.

Full time connected directly to the battery via a relay so they come on with the low beams would be perfect IMHO. Only drawback is there is no way to turn them off however this is easily accomplished by installing a wireless switch which I have used on ebay which would work wonderfully. This would give you a small remote control which you can leave in the console to turn on and off the fog lights if so desired when the low beams are on. Really convenient as you do not need to run wires from the engine bay to the cabin or install any switch. There are numerous ways of doing this however my preference would be on when low beams are turned on with the option of turning them off like I described above using the remote switch. This is what I am talking about. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...TR0.TRC0.H0&_nkw=12v+wireless+switch&_sacat=0

Thanks guys!

Very Nice. Just picked mine up yesterday. Was set on Empire Grey but something about the Parisian just kept me going back. Anyway, hope to get the tint and trunk badge on soon. When Gen 1 cam out I was ready to pull the trigger but was not quite ready to do so financially. I am a very happy new owner.

Congratulations and enjoy. When the 1st Gen came out I was close but couldn't get over the brand.... 2 Mercedes leases later and some growing up, I finally did it. I'm glad I waited. This car blows away my 2 E350's I had.

congrats on your Genesis. I have the Empire Gray and love the color w. black interior. Did you have the dealer do the tinting or go elsewhere? Can you tell us what it cost for the tinting?

Thanks. I had them tinted locally. The place I go to charges $150+tax for the job. They are laser cut to each specific vehicle and perfect. I live in Staten Island NY.

I wish I could of got the Empire Gray.
