  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, new here...and a noob to genesis.

I was looking at buying a coupe, and learned they have two different models(4cyl turbo and a v6)

Are both considered reliable engines? What engine is most desirable to mod up? I'd assume the turbo engine, but with the v6 starting out with 75 hp more, that's quite a head start.

I guess no one has responded because this is a very difficult question of taste and opinion. During 10-12, there were six trim levels of the Coupe. by 15, there are 3 or 4, I think, as they discontinued the 4cyl (rightly). There were very few "options" outside these packages.

So, the way I looked at it, in my opinion this car should have at least a V6, if not a V8. It should have sport-tuned suspension. It should have the best brakes, tires, and wheels offered. It should be a manual. That leaves two models, the 3.8 R-Spec (manual only, race model) and the 3.8 Track/Ultimate (heavier with luxury stuff with a manual option). Someone else may have an entirely different opinion, but I can't stand the idea of "base" models of anything.

It depends on what YOU want and how YOU drive. Don't get the Base model if you like sport driving and racing because you will be disappointed. Don't get the racing-oriented models and expect a cushy ride if you have a bad back or a complaining family. Don't get a 4cyl, regardless of the turbo, and expect to be the fastest car around, because you will be slower than you think, especially with an automatic. Don't get the V6 and expect to be modding it with cheap trendy "tuner" parts because that's not what the V6 is about, as it's already got the power you need. So, what do YOU want??

If you're looking at new cars, the engine choice has been made for you. Only the 3.8 V6 is available for 2015; no more 2.0 4 cylinder turbo.

Track models with the manual....a lot of the older desirable models are no longer around..
