  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have never owed a Hyundai or a Genesis. I love the look, engine, transmission, and everything else about the car (what I’ve learned). Have not driven yet.

I would be interested in the 5.0 so I have a couple of questions:

• Reliability? The tech is new (could be buggy), the DI engine, transmission software
• What kind of transmission is it? I know it’s an 8 speed but what is it? I know it’s not a ZF box, has it been “time tested”?
• I would like more info about the optional suspension (Continuous Damping Control) and is the normal (base) suspension as good/almost as good?
• What is the brand of the shock tires on the 5.0?

I know I put a lot of questions in 1 post; I can split them up if that will make things easier.

Thanks!

You can check the tires when you get to the dealer. In the past, they have used different tires for different trim levels, etc (at least after 2012).

The engine is pretty much the same since 2012, and is a GDI engine. Transmission since 2012 is Hyundai designed 8-speed. Both "appear" to be fairly reliable by now.

If you get a Genesis with a lot of Tech stuff, I would recommend the Hyundai extended Platinum Warranty for 10 years - 100K miles on everything. Without that, the audio, video, nav, etc is only warrantied for 3 years - 36K miles. You should be able to get this for $1500 or less at closing, or after closing at a another dealer (local or online).

I would read reviews in auto mags about suspension differences.
