Next-Gen Genesis sedan will probably take design cues from this...

The Korean automaker calls the Blue2's exterior design philosophy 'Intersected Flow,' incorporating both innovative and dynamic design elements. Will Intersected Flow's tenets replace Fluidic Sculpture as the surface language of choice at Hyundai? We're not sure, but we like the wraparound-style greenhouse combined with a flat, slightly slanted roof (Saab 9-5, anyone?), and we're surprisingly fond of the glossy black strip that runs from the bottom of the C-pillar all the way back to the bottom of the front wheel well. Hyundai has executed some exceptional production designs as of late, but this is the first concept that we've fallen for from the brand in some time. Notice the LED screen panels at the front and rear – they display messages about the vehicle's condition. Like many new concepts, conventional door mirrors have been replaced with cameras, and the car even features a welcome system that recognizes the driver and automatically opens the door.

Nah... I read in a in RPM9.com that they just "borrowed" the Genesis wings to give the Blue2 a more "upscale" look.

it may be a smaller sedan but what would happen to the
Azera?

Genesis and Azera are two different markets. Some of us on this forum would not have a front wheel drive car. I know I wouldn't. Genesis is one of the least expensive V8 RWD sedans currently on the market and the absolutely least expensive V8 sedan with acceptable build quality. What are the other choices? Chrysler 300C or Dodge Charger R/T. I think the Azera is more of an Avalon competitor.

Bleach! That thing is ugly. Nissan GT-R roof/window line (or some recent SAAB concepts) combined with a Starsky & Hutch stripe... and that horrid style "maw" grill. Those of you that have read my other posts on this forum are well aware of how I hate a tall/narrow "maw" style grill - like the prevalent Audi grills. The Sonata Hybrid grill kills what is otherwise a nice looking car; the basic Sonata front end is much nicer. The front end/grill pictured at the top of this thread, especially in the second YouTube link, looks like some sort of dog-doo scoop.

Designers refer to many cars as "one box" (vans), "two box" (e.g. station wagons, crossovers, and some minivans), and "three box" (sedans) with some two-box designs trying to morph into three-boxes instead. Now it seems they want to make the front of cars "three" oriented as well: a square center grill flanked by two multi-purpose messes (headlights + air vents + whatever else they can cram in) made of random angular shapes. Yuck. Trendy, not classy.

Those rear doors look rather useless too; I'd guess this is a 4-door car that wants to look like a coupe like some of the recent Mercedes designs.

As with many concept sketches, this thing looks like it ignores the realities of license plates, mandatory bumper heights, snow chains on the wheels, etc. And like most (all?) concept cars & sketches, the windows are totally blacked out. Can't designers figure out how to make/draw a car that looks good with legal window glass?! Like many concepts out there, these pics show cars with tall doors/sides and skinny window glass - the old "chopped & channeled look" of hot-rodding days. Yet most people like an open, airy, interior with good outside visibility --> not skinny windows! For sports cars the skinny windows are part of the "sleek and fast" look perhaps... but in sedans many folks would find it claustrophobic and the reduced visibility makes a lot of drivers uncomfortable. I don't like feeling like I'm sitting in a deep bathtub when I drive a car - even my sports car. I want to see outside!

edit: I just re-read the italicized portion of the original post again... and noticed the part about the car "recognizing the driver and automatically opens the door." I can just picture walking between two cars in my garage, carrying out the trash or something, and having the stupid door snap open in front of me - tripping me or causing me to dump the trash onto the door and into the car. Future feature I can live without. What if I have two of these cars parked in the garage? Will they both automatically open doors and door-ding fight each other!?

I tried to picture your door concern and for that to happen this would be needed:
- you would have to carry the keyfob with you while walking through your garage to take the trash out.

- In the case of owning two same cars, same as above but you would have to carry BOTH keyfobs

- One car would have to be parked facing towards your house wall while the other car would have to be parked facing towards your garage door (so both driver doors open blocking your way)

- The car would have to SLAM open the door at full extension and fast enough for you to not being able to avoid it. If that ever happens please send a video

IF such feature is implemented I would think it would consist on the door slightly pop open enough for the driver to just pull it to extend open the door as needed.

PS: The ZK front end looks like the much failed Accura front. I really hope Hyundai takes this back to the drawing board or even better to the trash can.
