If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I can't honestly say I'm pining for an AWD car, though perhaps it's just a case of me never having driven one. I am more looking forward to the 5.0 V8 and an updated DIS (Ford Sync anyone?), which I'm hoping gets addressed. Oh and for goodness sakes Hyundai, make a cooled passenger seat at least an option.

I've been waiting for AWD for some time now. I presently drive an Audi and the only reason I haven't picked up a Genesis is because of the lack of AWD. Looks like my prayers have been answered! This finally levels the playing field when it comes to competing against the Germans. Bring it on Hyundai!

In sunny locations AWD isn't really a big benefit. But in the US Northeast and in Canada, AWD is a huge deal and the lack is certainly costing Hyundai some sales.

Yeah, I can see that. I just hope it's optional. We get 300 days of sunshine a year in Austin, and for those ~2 months of rain, it's not worth it in my opinion to carry around the extra 100-400 pounds of weight.

I had a 99 Lexus GS300 RWD - It was flawless and I loved it..... When Lexus came out with AWD GS350, I bought one .....They absolutely ruined the car!

Even though the article says 2014, I estimate anywhere between 2014-2016; just in time to trade-in my 2010

The next gen Genesis and Equus sedans are scheduled for a 2013 Korean launch so 2014 for the US seems right.

Considering that the new Santa Fe is getting heated/cooled front and rear seats, I'd say it's a safe bet that the Genesis will match that.

Not having AWD is costing the Genesis 35-40% in additional sales. In New England, 90% of Mercedes sedans sold are equipped w/ 4Matic.

As an owner of a SH-AWD TL, I can tell you that the AWD gives the Acura the ability to hang with smaller Audi's and BMW on a slalom even though it is as big and heavy as a Genesis and its weight distribution is worse.

It's more than just for rain and snow with a Torque Vectoring system.

Yeah in the Northeast, AWD is definitely a deal breaker for some car buyers. I loved having AWD when I had an S4, and would have gotten it on the Genesis if it had been an option. I am glad to hear that this feature will be included on the next generation Genesis. Likewise liking the addition of Blue Link, the Hyundai comparable to Ford's Sync System.

Now they just need to also include folding rear seats...

They're also going to likely be getting rid of the 4.6 and just have one V8:

You probably want to wait for the second iteration model year (i.e., 2015) since the first model year of a new design always has bugs in it. The second one is usually better.

Is it just me or people want Hyundai to become another BMW?
I don't mind people needing on AWD since that is important safety feature up north but other features not that much. Don't you think Genesis sedan has enough and even surpassing other luxury brand's options by lower cost?
I don't really want to sound offensive to nicpickers but if you can't live with those features (passenger cooled seats, folding rear seats etc.) just buy the ones that have them.

There is really no reason for Hyundai to take in your stand to give all of your wanted features/options because that will cause their cost and eventually prices to go up. Every option or additional features they sell as options adds to the cost of the vehicle since you have to R&D, manufacture then keep inventory. Jacking up prices actually diminishes their current attractiveness of "Lower cost big Luxury sedan". Every review is saying they are the bang of the buck in Luxury sedan and sadly without it, Hyundai will be dead last or around middle of the pack. Coupling with Hyundai's blemished reputation which they are now trying to regain positive by hauling Genesis/Equus line, they will just become another Phaeton at best if they try to sell it with all the features set up. It will be very nice on paper (hey full loaded with features that surpasses every car sounds nice), but since it will be expensive, everyone will go towards other luxury brand.(Just like what people did to phaeton)

Unless Hyundai wants to gamble (a losing one in fact) they won't increase their prices nor features that might cost them for a while. They are currently king in value luxury car and unless other brands shift that way there is no reason to lose their strong points. The main reason for them on Genesis is regaining reputation that was marred during 1990s. It is quite far for Hyundai to compete head-on with features/options/technology available to other luxury brands.
When they finally imprint all people to have them consider Hyundai Genesis (or any other line if they make another) when shopping for luxury sedan, then they could try for market share.

^ Hyundai has to do the R&D on them anyway b/c they offer all those tech goodies for the Korean market and just decontent models for the US market to keep the price down.

Plus, nowadays, mainstream models are getting a lot of the tech goodies so Hyundai can't let the Genesis be less well equipped than say, the next Ford Fusion, much less the Azera.

Yes, this is true. But Junkie makes a valid point: don't like it? Go spend $15K more (or more). I also get tired of the incessant demands to improve this, upscale that. There isn't a car out there that couldn't be improved, these included. But for some reviewers and posters here perfect won't be good enough.
Btw, I'm replying to you only because Junkie's was too long for my phone. Nothing you wrote actually prompted it.
:-)

What people want is a matter of opinion; for those who dissent, your opinion is no more valid than mine. Asking for a cooled passenger seat in a vehicle that competes with cars which have that option is not unreasonable. And if you don't want to see people express an opinion different than yours, then you can always opt out of reading a thread. Furthermore, just as you suggest that I can go more expensive, if you want a basic, utilitarian vehicle with no options, you can always buy a Daewoo (since you don't even own a Genesis yet).

Guys keep it on topic, and stop the name calling. If you want to debate this topic further, I suggest starting a new thread titled, "What features should the Genesis add" or "How much should Hyundai try to be like BMW" etc.

This is the last warning to keep it on topic.
