  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Non-Linear Acceleration with the 4.6

I still have the 2009 V8 (purchased November, 2008), and, I've had the ECU update, and I'm going to the dealer today to get the free map upgrade.

Of course, no car is perfect, and through all of what I've done with the dealer, I still experience the non-linear acceleration at about 3/4 gas pedal.

However, when you floor it, such as when you merge on the Freeway, the Tau gives you all it has without hesitation.

I agree that it is surprising the car doesn't have more quirks. This one is annoying, but, I've had worse in far more expensive vehicles.

I'll buy another when the time comes, however, I think Hyundai could fix this...

I just don't know how.

Excuse me for my ignorance but I haven't been here in a while. What's this about a free map upgrade? I bought my car in July of '09 and I just went in to do the map upgrade and my dealer told me that he thinks I already have it because there are no service bulletins for my car. I asked if he could verify this with Mapnsoft and he said he could not, so I sent a nastygram to Hyundai Corporate headquarters. He also said that if I were to get it, it would have been $215. But you are saying it's free?

Yes for sure !!! I have the same feeling on my new v8 ....and said to myself it's a hyundai !!!! Love the car .. Small things it should have like trunk auto ,& cooling pass. Side ,reading the cd names !
But the speed from a toll booth going all out is not what i could say i am happy with it is held back feeling ???? Can't explain ! But i get that same type of feel --anything can be done for this or just live with it ??--i would love to pay and fix that --feeling--????

Hi folks,

Dropped my Genesis (09) at the dealer on Friday to get the ECU/Nav updates. They gave me a loaner car (Sonata)because of course the nav update takes more like 4 to 5 hours to complete rather than 3. Any way, I dropped my car off at 09:00am that morning, and never got a call from them. So I headed to Birmingham Saturday morning (trip already planned). I didn't get a call on Friday evening,or Saturday morning. So I called them Saturday afternoon. The Service person said that he called my # about 6:30pm on Friday. I asked him what # did you call, he read out a number, well he was one number off from my correct number. He apologized for the mistake. I said that's ok, I'm on the way to Birmingham in your loaner car. We both just laughed. He said you can pick your Genesis up on Tuesday (Monday Labor Day). Hey, the ECU update worked,no more Non-Linear Acceleration. Oh, and you do loose all your Info in your Nav system. I haven't fully checked it out yet, so I can tell you of any improvements yet. I was more interested in the ECU update.

Thanks

Myself I think the problem is more related to the drive by wire system not being able to interpret the pedal pressure properly thus giving the throttle control the wrong position/acceleration information.

I'm using a MAF control "resister" that changes the MAF opening curve more aggressive and have removed the intake "gate" I get quicker air and the ecu seems to keep the mixture 14.7:1. now if i could trick the injectors allow more fule in I can beet my 5.4sec 0-60 I think the ECU would still be able to keep the mixture at 1.47:1 but allow quicker off the line go:D
