  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey forum. I love my new (to me 10Kmi certified 3.8 tech.) Genesis. I've been lurking for a week or so and really have learned a lot from you guys. I'm in the middle of the Genesis learning curve and want to use my bluetooth phone and voice recognition. I seem to have a complete set of manuals however the owners manual directs me to a separate manual for bluetooth and really doesn't address voice recognition. I may have overlooked it but I just finished a page by page search. Am I missing a manual?

Welcome, checkout the Docs thread at the top of the sedan forum. You need to read the DIS Manual. I have an iPone and it was pretty easy to setup.
Have fun!

All you need to do is pair your phne with the car, the voice recongnition happens automatically. Once paired all you do is after putting in a few contacts into your cars system is to push the voice button on you steering wheel and after the beep sound say the name of the person you want to call. At this point the system will verbally confirm your request and then it will dial the number, reduce the volume on the radio, and allow you to talk using the mic above your driver seat.

Unfortunitly your phonebook from your iphone is not copied to the cars phone book, you need to put them in manually once again. Its a pain, but I found that there is a lot of number that are not needed. Hope this help a bit.

Thanks kev4 & bcahn. This will definately get me going. BTW the dis manual looks quite large and it seems it wouldn't fit in the leather bag w/the owners manual. Where might it be stored in the car? Have I overlooked it? i'm not with the car now.

The DIS manual and Owner's manual are about the same size. Both of these, plus the Quick Reference Guide, fit snugly into the leather document case located in the glove compartment.

Quick reference guide......?......?.... . In guess I'll be visiting my salesman soon eh? Thanks again guys.

Here's a picture of the various manuals and brochures that were included with my 2009 3.8 w/ Technology Package. Tech includes the two DIS manuals in the center plus an additional XM brochure (the only difference between the two are the mention of the 12-month free trial on the 2009 Tech vs. the 90-day trial on everything else).

The whole bundle of manuals is delivered in a leather document case and a plastic slip cover (for the minor docs). Both are enclosed in a plastic pouch that reads "2009 GENESIS / Part no. 08010-3M600".

EDIT: Whoops, found another one: The Dunlop tire warranty brochure (for the main tires). The one shown in the bottom of the photo is for the donut spare, which is a Hankook.

Thanks data, I did find the DIS manual in the glove box when I got home. Funny it takes 1 manual for the car and another almost equal in size for just the tech. I'm loving this car, I think it is smarter than me. The DIS manual will indeed fit into the leather pouch if I remove all the other warranty/dispute crap. Thanks again, as I read the DIS I can see the forum will be a valuable learning tool.
