  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm nearing the 40,000 mile mark in my baby and I just wanted to share some observations/experiences so far. Hopefully others on this board have similar experiences and have some tips/solutions to share.

1. This is still a hot @$@#%@ car!!!!!
2. I've noticed that after roughly 35K miles range, my MPG has gone down considerable from around 25-26 down to 21-22.
3. The side mirrors need to be moved, they get in the way of my seeing the ground clearly
4. I noticed that when I play my iPod through the cable and try to use the GPS and set a destination, the volume spikes up considerably
5. The leather seats warp easily
6. My alignment is still pulling to the left even after I got it aligned at the dealership
7. The factory tires are a nightmare, I am switching out to my snow tires and then I will get a different kind of tire.
8. Dealership experience has not been great for me. I expect to get a loaner car similar to what I am currently driving, I've received the cheap Hyundai cars for loaners.
9. This car need to have the display on the windshield, very helpful and very cool:)
10. Hyundai needs to develop and install a hybrid system combining a hard drive, and the synch system for a multipurpose entertainment system. In order to compete with the other luxury companies, Hyundai needs to differentiate themselves. The big criticism on the Genesis is that is takes it's styling from other cars and is not unique or original.

According to whom? There are only so many ways to bend metal, and - borrowed styling or not - Hyundai has made it look better than whatever it was borrowed from - this is one great looking car and gets compliments wherever it goes. .:D

Good write up - I should do my own since I'm up to 27k mi.

As for the design, I think the car looks great - took the good parts from other designs and built on it. My Genesis still gets stares and compliments, which I consider proof that is a good looking car with road poise. I think some people don't realize that Hyundai/Kia hire European designers, and that's where the similarities come from - not copying, but buying the design mentality. The Genesis design was a collaboration with Hyundai and a European firm up to a point, when Hyundai admittedly improved on what the European design was.

Good point. Frankly, most palatable and feasible car designs are already out there. Nothing wrong with taking the best available features of others and blending them into a pleasing whole. The car still draws alot of looks wherever it goes.

Likewise the Sonata - I think the 2010 is really great looking (but having been spoiled by the Genesis, the Sonata is a pretty noisy ride by comparison)
