  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

5-30 or 10-30, and I use Mobil One, but synthetic is not required.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I just bought anew Genesis V6. Two things about the oil in t he car.

1 - The dealer said they use a "synthetic blend" What is this? I normally take my cars to a Jiffy lube type place. Will they have this available? Is this just regular grade oil like I used in my 07 Azera?

2 - Shows 7500 miles between oil changes - seems like a long time for regular oil. I'm curious what others do.

Last question. . . .does anyone use premium fuel? Shows not required, but gives better performance. Is this true?

Thanks!

Don't waste your time on premium fuel.

A synthetic blend is an oil that is between regular "Dino" oil and a full synthetic.

If you aren't using a full synthetic, I'd stick with the 3,750 mile "severe" service schedule.

Some dealers use synthetic blend, but only conventional oil is required by Hyundai. Synthetic blend is a combination of conventional oil and synthetic oil (although mostly conventional) and it is better quality than 100% conventional oil, but obviously not as good as a full synthetic. I personally recommend a full synthetic oil, especially those with a GDI engine. I use a full synthetic and change my oil about every 5000 to 6000 miles. I use Mobil 1 0W-30.

The V6 is designed to run on regular, but I have noticed that I get better gas mileage with a mid grade fuel (or you can get 2/3 of a tank of regular and 1/3 of a tank of premium, which is cheaper than mid-grade). 100% premium is probably too much octane for the V6.

Went in for the normal oil service and was told about a recall on the brake fluid. Dealership will flush out old and put new brand of fluid.

Use 87 octane gas. Anything more is a total waste of money. Premium gas will NOT get you better performance.

All of a sudden - gas discussion - for the 10,000th time.

At least for the V8, Hyundai specs says it gets about 7 more HP with premium than with regular.

You're right. Mea culpa. I should have said "appreciable" performance. I use regular "non-ethanol" gas and get 3 more MPG than with Premium with ethanol. Cost is almost identical and I detest ethanol in my gas.

And gas has what to do with the OP's topic??
