  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had my first oil change @ 3k miles today. Was in and out of the dealership (Hyundai of St. Augustine) in 45 minutes. Oil change was free (first one is on them). Next one is 69.95 at 7500 miles.

Overall was happy they had me in at the specific appointment time, and out in record time - 45 minutes.

Just thought I'd share my experience.....

They did inform me it uses 5W20 oil... JFYI.. for the record :)

edit: moderators, please feel free to move this to the appropriate forum or sub forum, if I have posted this thread incorrectly. Thanks.

That's one more good thing about Genesis... Not like other lux car, you don't have to pay a fortune to change oil.

My dealer will do the oil change free for one year ! Sweet.

Damn.... $70 for an oil change? That's steep.

Hey, do you know if the oil filter is on the top side of the engine? My wife's SF has it on the top side (as opposed to bottom of engine) and it's a breeze to change :D

$70 is steep for an oil change at a Hyundai dealership. My dealership just raised their price from $33 to $38 FWIW.

For those doing home oil changes remember that the 4.6 takes 6.9 quarts of oil vs. the traditional 5 quarts. Also good to remember if you bring to a quick lube place-if they just put in 5 quarts you are in trouble. My V8 Mercedes takes 9 quarts...

$70?? Wow, we need to go up! The oil filter is on the top of the V6, not sure about the V8. Its cold and raining, or I would gladly go check for you. ;)

Why the change @ 3K Miles? The Genesis V6 & V8 manuals state oil and filter @ 7.5K.

Sounds to me that the free oil change really won't be free if you pay $70 for the second one. That's $35 each which is about what it should be. I appreciate the heads up on the quantity of oil needed to change...

On the V-6 the filter is right on top behind the large plastic engine cover you see what you open the hood. Darned easy to change.

$70!!! that is what i pay on my truck, when i am lazy or it is cold outside, and that includes $25 for filters and 15 quarts of oil....

Most of the dealers now are using synthetic - a good piece of the difference.

Wow that is a lot, especially if you are changing roughly every 3,000 miles. I know they aren't charging the rest of the Hyundai non Genesis owners that much for an oil change, there had better be something very special about that oil.

Well, when it stops raining you can check. - Just giving you a reason to get out of the office :)

For the love of your God, DON'T GO TO A QUICK LUBE PLACE. Either go to a Hyundai Dealership (I still don't trust dealerships), or do it yourself.

For warranties sake, I would recommend going to a dealership for the first couple of years until your warranty is up. That way, if god forbid something would've happen, you would be covered saying you did all the oil changes at a reputable dealership and you have all the right documents to prove it.
