I switched to synthetic at 1500 miles. The 5W-20 drain oil was mighty thin and dirty, so maybe at most 3750 (half of recommended 7500) would be advisable.Anyone with a suggestion on mileage for the first oil change. I'll hold off till the second change before I go to synthetic.
If you have the V8, (vice the V6), the oil filter lays on its side, so before you remove the end cap, (27mm socket) I believe you must first drain the assembly by unscrewing the 6mm allen screw under the assembly. (Otherwise you will make a mess).
I will know better tomorrow, as I will watch while my dealer does my first oil/filter change.
Since the V6 assembly is vertical, how can you pre-fill it? It is not vertical pointing down, it is vertical pointing up....if I had a V6, I would pre-fill the filter assembly before screwing on the end cap. (The V6 assembly is vertical - the V8 is not).

I have changed my oil and filter on the V6, and I don't think it is possible to fill it up. When the housing is removed with a 27 mm socket, you can see that it covers more than half of the side of the filter, and it is not just an "end-cap". Might be able to put some oil in there without spilling it on the engine, but certainly not fill it up. I am not convinced yet that it is a problem anyway since I use synthetic oil, which flows well at engine start-up.Well, from what I heard, the end cap on the V6 is on the top, and if you remove the end cap, you lift out the filter. Now I don't know for sure as I have not seen it done, but it seems to me that if you lift the filter out from the top of the housing, you can prefill the housing when you replace the filter.
Again, I don't know for sure. Perhaps someone who has seen it done, or has done it themselves can give more information.
You can change the oil every 7500 because the book says so and no your warranty won't be voided, the manuals say 7500 for normal conditions although i would not wait till 7500 with conventional oil. what we recommed here at my dealership is to do it evey 5000 and rotate your tires at the same time.Oil does not break down like it use to and 5000 miles is just fine for oil change intervals, in fact most manufactures are going to 5000 mile oil changes.Hello All,
I am new to the site. I purchased my Genesis 3 months ago and have 3700 miles. The book says 7500 miles to the first oil change but the dealer insists that my warrantly will be voided if we don't change it every 3K miles. Any ideas?
