Now that I know where it's located, does anyone know who ( besides Hyundai ) sell the oil filter. Model # ??
Thanks
Thanks

I wasn't being hard on him. There is a lot of good information about the oil filters posted in the other threads already started that I suggested he look at. I know that because I posted some of it myself.Mark,
Don't be hard on him. Like any new owner, he just did not know. Even though it may have been posted before, it is still a good question.
As mentioned in several other threads, it is probably identical to the OEM filter. Did you get the 2 o-rings and washer (for the oil drain plug on the V6) with the filter? The Hyundai filter comes with these and costs about $8.00 at my dealer.Aside from Purolator, one can also buy Wix brand from Rockauto.com as follows:
WIX Part # 57250 @ $4.45 each plus shipping.
Mine came with some sort of plast assembly attached at one (or both) ends and marked: "Made in Korea". From the description, the Wix filter seems very similar to the Hyundai-brand filter.
One gets two O-rings, but not the crush washer.
That is a great point, Disaster. I have always disliked the term "crush" washer, when the washer is made of aluminum. If one really tightened the drain plug enough to "crush" the washer, they would likely destroy the threads in the oil pan.
For some years (at least ten, maybe more), I have used nylon washers for the oil drain plugs in all my vehicles. There would be some compression with these; however, you would be less likely to damage the oil pan threads. I have never had to replace one of these washers, and I never had an oil leak from the oil pan.
I've never seen an aluminum one...just brass and copper. The nylon is a good idea...as long as it's actually nylon. Other plastics, such as polypropelene, don't fair so well against oil. How hard do you torque the nut down when using a nylon washer?
