  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Oil Filters?

Yep. Its common not to have a spin on filter. My Mercedes and my BMW have canister filter like the Genesis.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Usually do my own work but no data available on the procedure for the oil change, I hate to take it to the dealer when I can do most things myself, any special data that would be helpful, have not owned a performance vehicle since my last porsche 1977.

It takes more time to get the cover off the bottom of the car than it does to remove the oil filter. I've done mine twice. Its either 8 or 10 screws that hold the piece of plastic on the bottom. Once that's off a socket will remove the oil filter housing.

You know, I was wanting to write down the socket size for the cover (I know I used a quarter drive socket set but I don't remember the socket size) and the oil filter housing (used 1/2 ratchet/socket for that one but again, I don't remember the socket size) last time but it was 98 F and by the time I was done I was so wet/dirty my wife didn't want to let me in the house to take a shower. I was whipped by the time I got it all put back together.

I will say the factory oil filters look/fee/act like they won't fit but that funny whitish stuff on the ends is really sort of flexible and the filter can be forced onto the post in the housing. Don't forget to use the new o-rings and drain bolt seal. You're paying for them. My dealer charges me just over $11 per filter for the Hyundai name on them.

I’s not hard when you have one of these in your garage.:D:D

I don't see my reply, dont yet know how to navigate this program, where would my posts be?

OK, well I have a white, red interior, six speed manual with red brembos, looks cool, handles well, am using Wix 57250 filter. synthetic mobile one, 2500 miles.

This is the lift you are looking at in my post.

http://www.harborfreight.com/6000-lb-capacity-scissor-lift-91315.html

This will lift 6K 54 inches off the floor. Had to do a few mods on it to get to work on the Genesis though.

Notice the planks on the floor. Lowest part of the Genesis has a clearance of 5 inches. The planks add 3 inches of clearance for the Genesis to have enough wiggle room to drive over the lift without worrying about the clearance.
.
The swing arms on the lift will accommodate lifting points on a vehicle 48 inches wide. The Genesis's lifting points are 60 inches apart, so the swing arms had to be modified to allow the lifting pads to be placed under the lifting points taking into consideration the 4850 lbs load of the Genesis.

A lot of he hawing around, but IMPO it was worth it. Tire rotation, oil changes, detailing is a breeze once the car is on the lift.

I like to do my own maintenance, because then I know it is done right and I take pride in my work and cars.

The pictures show the Genesis lifted about 3 feet. At full lift the roof of the genesis is about 3 inches from the ceiling and the garage door has to be closed to allow a full lift.

That is a great looking lift will definitely look into this, thanks for the heads up, I can tell you take pride in your vehicles, I would rather do it myself correctly instead of paying the outrages cost of service and I get the same satisfaction. :D

The toughest part of adapting the lift to accommodate the wide bodied Genesis is the modification of the lift arms. Like I said in previous postings, the lift will only accommodate a vehicle with lifting points of 48”CC. The genesis’s lifting points are 60” CC. I had to make new lifting arms to allow the lifting pads to reach these points. It takes a little engineering to calculate the tress on the arms when they are extended 6’’ per arm and size the material to accommodate the extra load on them.
If you’re interested PM me and I provide the materials and pictures of the extended lift arms.
I looked for a lift that would fit in my garage and would be able to accommodate the wide body of the Genesis to no avail. My Garage has a 10’ ceiling and most column lift require 13’ minimum. The lift I bought was the best fit for what I wanted to do, but required some modification to make it work.
